To the “Flock” from the “Administrator”,
[1] Congratulations to Mr. John Grossheim! John was admitted this week, after a period of discernment and evaluation, to Candidacy for the Order of the Permanent Diaconate for the Diocese of Raleigh. John and his wife Janel are well-known in our parish and have been involved for several years in a variety of ministries. Extend to them your prayers and gratitude for their willingness to serve in our Diocese in a leadership role as John pursues ordination in the years ahead.
[2] A traditional blessing of Easter Baskets will be held on Holy Saturday, April 8 at 12 noon. Popular in Poland and other countries, this tradition has families bring crafted baskets filled with foods, placing them in front of the altar for a blessing, before taking them home for the family Easter celebration.
[3] You are invited to make a Spiritual Adoption by filling out an adoption card and praying for the new life you have committed to remember. Next Saturday, March 25, is the Feast of the Annunciation. We celebrate the Virgin Mary’s pregnancy and the Joy of Jesus’ Birth Proclamation by the Archangel Gabriel. Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, by filling out an adoption card, you pledge to pray each day for 9 months for the safe and healthy birth of a child by name. You can find the adoption cards in the bulletin this weekend or attached below.
[4] Our first of two Lenten Penance Services will be held this Wednesday from 10 am - 12 noon. Our second Penance Service will be held next Wednesday, March 29 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. There will be no 5-6 pm confessions offered on either Wednesday.
[5] Please help us to go “over the top” with our BAA goal. We have always reached our goal at Saint Catherine’s but are falling short this year. We are at just 70% of our target. Please consider making a pledge or increasing your pledge by clicking the BAA donation link below.
[6] Change is coming with a significant landscape improvement to our campus front entry area. You will see in the coming month the start of a beautification project to create a greater sense of hospitality along with a dignified entry to match that of our beautiful church.
Admittedly there is much darkness in the world, but let us remember how we are in the world, but not of the world. The Light of Christ continues to shine brightly in our midst. Thank you for being an active part of our faith community! I pray that your Lenten journey continues to be blessed.
Sincerely in Christ,
+ Fr Martin Fitzgerald
