Beginning this weekend (3/25-26), parishioners will have an opportunity to more fully participate in the offering of gifts during Mass. Collection baskets will be passed in the pews, and the offering will be placed in the basket in front of the altar. Giving envelopes can still be used if you give electronically, so that everyone can participate in placing a gift in the offertory basket. There is a place on your envelope to mark that you give electronically.

We hope that this change will help us more deeply connect our personal gifts with the offering of the Mass. Scripture tells us that where our treasure is, there is our heart (Matthew 6:21). By offering our treasure within the Mass, we can be more attentive to how we are giving to Him our hearts.

Due to increased Mass attendance, we will be reducing the number of pews reserved for masked parishioners. There will still be a reserved section at the front of the far right section of the church, but the back of that section will be open seating.

Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence.

For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal.

Senior Home Ministry - This ministry need’s volunteers to conduct Eucharist Service or assist in Mass set up.  This ministry currently serves three facilities where a Mass is conducted once a month & Eucharist Service is once a week.  Please contact Kathie Tomazic @ 1-567-204-0013 if interested.

Creating a sensation with its debut at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall in New York City in 2018, Thy Will Be Done will hold its first performance in Lexington since the pandemic at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 2 at Calvary Baptist Church.

Empower Your Catholic Faith: St. Leo is hosting an Easter mission with apologist and teacher, Brian Henderson.  Join us each Wednesday night during the Easter Season from 7:30pm - 8:30pm in the parish hall.  Babysitting and desserts/snacks will be provided.  Come and encounter Jesus in a new way to uncover how you are known and loved.  Discover your purpose and develop a deeper knowledge of Jesus and how to achieve true happiness in your life.  We will also explore and understand what Jesus has done to help you accomplish your mission and purpose. Invite others to join you to know who Jesus is on April 19 and 26 and May 3, 10, and 17.

Your help is needed to build the Dignity Project at the Catholic Action Center for the elderly and disabled who are without a home and care. A sad but often hidden and lonely secret in Lexington is that many of those left on our streets are elderly and disabled….people who may have lived a life with and now find themselves without: without a home, without family or friends to care for them in their aging and not fitting into the systems that provide care for our citizens who are aging. Often it is a temporary situation as they wait for a bed to open in assisted living but with the Baby Boomer generation aging, and services overwhelmed by the need, a temporary displacement to live in a car or on the streets is robbing our brothers and sisters of their dignity, safety and health. Other shelters in Lexington are not available for them because of their mobility and health issues. This gap in our community must be addressed. We at the Catholic Action Center have been taking many folks in but need to retrofit areas and add services in order to care for them with dignity and safety. 

Many of you know the struggles to care for aging parents, siblings, spouses and the systems that have to be overcome to find that care. That takes time, persistence and love. We need your prayers and donations to make this happen. Please consider making a donation to the Dignity Project this holiday season!

All funds given to the Diocesan Annual Appeal are crucial to provide support for:
• Charitable outreach in the forms of food, clothing, counseling and emergency assistance in Eastern and Central Kentucky
• Formation of a new generation of Priests and permanent deacons
• Sustaining parishes including parishes with missions in remote parts of the diocese
• Educating students in our Catholic schools
• Programs and ministries that are beyond the resources of any one individual parish that are shepherded by the Chancery office
