We had a super fun closing event last Sunday! It was so nice to see so many students there! We had ice cream, a scavenger hunt that reviewed what we learned about this year, and fun games to end the night! Thank you for a FANTASTIC year everyone! :)
While our Sunday night meetings may have come to a close for the school year, there is still lots of fun coming up! Be sure to save the dates for these awesome events!
Cedar Point Trip!
- Date: June 6
- Time: We will meet at Blessed Sacrament at 5:30 AM and arrive back to Blessed Sacrament at 12:00 AM.
- Cost: $100 per person
- Details: Every student must sign up with a buddy that they agree to stay with in the park for the entire day.
- Chaperones: Are needed and can go for free! (First-come, first-served!)
- Registration will open on April 3 and close on May 5.
- Seats on the bus are first-come, first-served.
Welcome to Middle School
5th Grade Event: April 16
If you have a 5th grader, then you should save the date for our annual Welcome to Middle School event for 5th graders on April 16, 6-8pm, at Assumption BVM parish! The event is designed to give students a taste of what middle school and Middle School Youth Ministry are like! We'll play games, eat pizza, decorate pillow cases, and have time for students to ask current middle schoolers all about middle school and Middle School Youth Ministry! At YM, students can be themselves, and this event is designed to encourage students to do just that!
Faith and Science Event // June 14
Our middle schoolers were interested in learning more about the relationship between faith and science this year, so we have a special event coming up this summer! While some in the world may say there is a contradiction between faith and science and that you can't believe in both, we know that that's SO not true! :) We've booked a private showing of "From Earth to the Universe" at the Bay City Planetarium to explore the beauty and vastness of God's creation! Afterwards, Lyn Pajk, our awesome Director of Faith Formation and former science teacher will be leading a discussion and activities! It's going to be a lot of fun, so save the date!!
Treasure Box Activity
“The Church’s liturgical calendar is a reminder to us that all time belongs to God. And so, we do not identify days simply by the month of the year and the day of the week but in relation to events in the lives of Jesus, his mother Mary and the saints.” We have a rhythm to the year filled with celebrations and remembrances. There isn’t anything “unremarkable” about ordinary time as every day is special because every day belongs to God. We can mark time in a Catholic way by taking time to pray a short prayer in the morning, at noon, at dinner time and at night. We can also celebrate the change of the “seasons” of the liturgical year by having a colored candle or placemat or centerpiece that changes as we move from Ordinary time to Advent to Christmas to Ordinary time to Lent to Easter and back to Ordinary time. The colored ribbons can be placed by the candle/centerpiece/placemat or used as a Bible bookmark as a reminder that all time is borrowed from God and is blessed.
