Hello All!
My name is Meghan Nulty and I am thrilled to be joining your parish as the Associate Director of Discipleship and Formation. Originally I am from West Chester, but now reside right down the road in Malvern. I graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 2016 with a major in Theology and a background in Catechetics. Basically, what that means is thats I have studied and partaken in many different kinds of ministry and have come to realize that it truly is a passion of mine.
In partnering with Jason Carter and Diane Pealer, the goal of our office is to lead the youth, individuals, and families of St. Monica Parish into deeper relationship with Christ. I will be working especially close with the middle & high school youth ministries and religious education.
In reading through the goals of our parish, the words "deeper relationship" really stood out to me. Just as we are invited to grow in relationships with friends and family, the Lord invites us into deeper relationship with him every day. Several years ago, this concept seemed far fetched for me personally. However, upon further study and prayer, it is a concept that ultimately changed my life and led me to where I am today. Let me explain how.
Having attended 13 years of religious education, I could have answered almost any question about Jesus or our faith. This being said, although I knew about Him, I realized that I really didn’t know Him. I knew that he came to us as a baby, taught us some good stories that were ideal for illustrated children’s books, and that for some reason He died on a cross for us. But what I didn’t understand was why??
It wasn’t until I stepped out of my comfort zone and began speaking with Jesus, just as I would with a friend, that my relationship with Christ really began to grow. It was as if I was watering a seed that had been planted in my heart. My questions were slowly being answered and my knowledge about the faith moved from my head - to my heart. No longer did I simply know the information, but I actually believed it. Through this process, I came to the truth that knowing Jesus himself is far more rewarding than simply knowing facts about him.
This is just one of the reasons that I am so excited to join the Office of Discipleship and Formation here at the parish of St. Monica. I have seen God work miracles in my own life and can only imagine what He has in store for each member of this parish. I am eager to see God’s plan continue to unfold here at St. Monica Parish and am blessed to be a part of it.
I look forward to getting to know each of you! Please pray for me as I take on this new role and be assured of my prayers for you and your families.
Peace,
Meghan
