Happy Easter!!! Thank goodness the Easter season is 50 days long because it means this message is still on time! I hope that everyone had a meaningful Triduum and a blessed and beautiful Easter Sunday. I feel a little bit badly that I haven't written a note since Good Friday. I kind of left our flocknote group locked up in the tomb with only the hope of Sunday coming. This note seeks to remedy that with a big old dose of Easter joy and Alleluia!! I hope that you enjoy this 2 minute Easter poem:
This poem caused me to ponder what it means to be ALIVE. God created each of us and is the giver of life, and Jesus came to conquer death so that we can have eternal life. BOTH of these are pure, unmerited GIFTS OF LOVE and yet, so often, I go through my days as though they are unlimited and I waste time and opportunities to be with friends or to be of service, and I complain about so many things. Those are the days that I need to put on my gratitude glasses and see the blessings that are so generously poured out upon me; days for me to realize that life isn't just something to get through, but rather to be savored and enjoyed and shared. God has given me life and in turn I need to give life to others through kindness, love, forgiveness, mercy, acceptance, and gratitude.
This song by Phil Wickham is an awesome reminder to me of why we walk through Good Friday and that death doesn't have the final word and I have to quit living like I don't know the end of the story... ALLELUIA HE'S ALIVE and thank God, so am I.
I feel better now that I've gotten us out of the tomb, and I'm seriously not exaggerating when I say I have probably listened to this song 30 times in the past week. I just love when he says, "Let me tell you what happened next" and I'm like "what, what happened next???" Makes me smile EVERY time I hear it!
