Happy May Friends!
In honor of Mary and Mother's Day, I would like to bless the women of Brighton Senior Living right down the street from CtR on Huffmeister with homemade Mother's Day cards. Through Volunteer Houston, I found this volunteer opportunity with the nonprofit, The Holiday Project. The Holiday Project is a national nonprofit organization comprised of thousands of volunteers who visit with people spending Thanksgiving, Christmas, Chanukah and other holidays confined to hospitals, nursing homes and other institutions.
I invite you and your families to participate in making homemade Mother's Day cards for the 51 women of Brighton.
Card Guidelines:
In order to encourage creativity, very few guidelines are imposed on the making of Holiday Project handmade greeting cards.
•The cards may be almost any size, and the media used can be as simple as colored markers. Some people use combinations of media such as markers, rubber stamps, cut-out computer-generated images, pasted bits of ribbon or felt, etc.
•Please don't use glitter-on-glue. The glitter tends to get all over everything. However, pre-mixed "Glitter Glue" is fine.
•Mother’s Day Cards - not all of the ladies are Mothers so it’s best to say Happy Mother’s Day or Enjoy This Special Day or something similar on the outside of the card and something heartwarming or funny on the inside of the card…(just don’t include anything referring to the resident as a great mom, etc)
•It's preferable that the cards not be in envelopes.
•Cards should be signed by the persons making them. Any signature should probably include just the signer's first name or first names of group.
Please reply to this Flocknote letting me know if you willing be participating and how many cards you will make. I need the cards by next Wednesday, May 10th because I need to deliver the cards to the activity director at Brighton on May 11th. I sure hope you will help me bring a little cheer to these women which may make their month!
Cards can be dropped off at the church office and tell the receptionist to give to Kerry Chu.
A Mother's Blessing:
"Good and Gentle God, we pray in gratitude for our mothers and for all the women of theory who have joined with you in the wonder of bringing forth new life. You who became human through a woman, grant to all mothers the courage they need to face the uncertain future that life with children always brings."
Many thanks for your time and consideration.
Best,
Kerry Chu
