Last week, we shared an opinion piece that supported involuntary or forced treatment in some cases for SUD sufferers. Here's another opinion.  The author states that evidence strongly suggests that involuntary treatment doesn't work. Data from other countries comparing compulsory treatment to voluntary medication treatment shows rapid recurrence of opioid use after release from these centers. The evidence is quite clear that addiction is a treatable health condition, and what works is voluntary, welcoming, low-barrier treatment that includes a range of options based on science, delivered with compassion, and centered on and driven by patients. Both sides of this discussion seem to be rooted in a wish to respond to the overdose crisis and to help the individuals at greatest risk of harm.

Food Pantry, Saturday, May 20, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.  We are collecting canned fruit, tuna, and paper products for the May pantry.  

The food pantry had been serving between 10 and 12 families each month.  Due to circumstances at another food pantry, the last 2 months we served 17 families, almost double what we served in the past.  Our bills at the grocery store to stock the pantry have been almost $500.00 the past 2 months.  We are in desperate need of your monetary and food donations.  Please prayerfully consider making a donation to the food pantry.  We appreciate the donations we have already received.  Several of the new families have several young children.  

Our Daily Bread. Casserole pans for Our Daily Bread will be distributed after each Mass on May 6th and 7th while supplies last. The frozen casseroles will need to be returned to the Parish freezer by May 14th.
