SABBATH MORNING WORSHIP
9:00 a.m. & 11:45 a.m. WORSHIP -
IN PERSON and ONLINE -
YouTube
Tomorrow we begin our new 5-part sermon series entitled, "Being human: living imago dei,” with Pastor Tara VinCross!
To be human is to experience emotions. Compassion, joy, sadness, anger, and fear are all part of what it means to be human. But sometimes we can feel inconvenienced by emotions, or even consider these reactions “unchristian.” What if, instead of pushing emotions away, God calls us to understand our emotions, allowing them to inform how we live as followers of Jesus? Together we will explore what it means to live as image bearers, living into the full experience of being human, like Jesus did.

Pathfinder Campout
What an amazing experience Azure Hills Pathfinders had at the 2023 campout on the beautiful campgrounds of Lake Perris. This year they had the opportunity to earn Camping Skills I – IV honors while being blessed with inspiring messages and worship services.
Friday afternoon, campers started arriving on the grounds that would be the Azure Hills Satellite church for the weekend. As part of their camping skills training, they had to setup camp and their own tent.
Once camp was setup, campers were treated to a well-deserved dinner followed by vespers.
Sabbath morning, Pathfinders enjoyed a delicious breakfast and were ready for a day full of exciting activities. Camping Skills classes started, everybody learned how to make new knots, choose a proper camp site, and properly start a fire with and without matches.
At noon, worship service was carried out by different Pathfinders. After lunch, it was time for a welcome break as the temperature started to rise. However, some brave Pathfinders went on a hike and explored around the lake. The camping skills continued that afternoon and evening as they had to bake bread in the fire and another one on a stick.
This campout will definitely be remembered by our children for many years.

Adventurer Bike-A-Thon
Last Sunday you may have seen a San Bernardino County firetruck parked in the church’s back parking lot. There was no need for alarm. The firefighters were speaking to the Adventurer Club about fire safety and giving them a tour around their engine.
After our special guests finished, over 40 of our Azure Hills Adventurers donned helmets and peddled their hearts out on one of two bike lap courses. Smiling parents, proud grandparents and encouraging church friends lined the pickleball courts (smaller course) as well as the larger lap course that wound through the back parking lot. Supportive Pathfinders were there as well, counting laps and cheering on the cyclists. The Adventurers had a dual purpose: raising money for club activities-with per lap or flat rate sponsorships-and earning their respective honor badges.
Historically, the bike-a-thon is the club’s most successful fundraising campaign each year. This year the Builders and Helping Hands classes also partnered with Kona-Ice selling shave ice to help them raise money towards their trip to the 2024 International Pathfinder Camporee in Gilette, WY.
Thank you to our many volunteers who helped set up, tear down, and for those who manned the tables at registration, first aid, and the bike repair station. Thank you all for living out the longstanding reputation of Azure Hills Church: loving our kids.
Mark you calendars! Diversity Sabbath is May 20th. Here are pictures from last year's beautiful event! Please come dressed in clothing from your country of origin or your favorite travel destination! Also, be sure to join us after second service for a light reception in the breezeway and fish pond area outside the Fellowship Hall.

Sabbatical Announcement
Pastor Starla Stephan Leno is on Sabbatical beginning Monday, May 15 through July 10. We're grateful for her ministry and the opportunity provided by our Southeastern California Conference and Church Board to approve this space for rest and renewal. If you have a need that you would normally bring to Pastor Starla, please contact the Church Office and we will direct you.
Elder Dalton Mastrocolla returned to his country to preach for Digilia, which means vigil during the day! He spoke twice at the 4,000 member church of UNASP in São Paulo, Brazil. Digilia is a time where people share testimonies, prayers, and singing. "It was powerful and beautiful. God was glorified," said Mastrocolla.
His sermon was entitled, "Living with a Purpose," and included video testimonials that were filmed on the Azure Hills campus last month before he left.
"My message was about not judging people by how they look or what they say. It's important to ask the Holy Spirit to guide our words and make all people feel included because we are all children of the same father."
Christian Edition, an internationally known men’s chorus from Southern California will perform classic Christian hymns and selected contemporary sacred music in a special service at Azure Hills Church on Saturday, May 20, at 5 pm. Let’s use this opportunity to invite our friends and neighbors to enjoy Christian music at its finest. Admission is free.
