Belles of St. Mary's Luncheon Bingo, Tuesday, May 19. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Early bird games start at 11 a.m. Lunch will be a chicken salad and tossed salad plate, chips, and vanilla pudding. The cost is: lunch and 16 games of bingo (3 cards to a game), $15; bingo and no lunch, $10; lunch and no bingo, $7. For an additional fee, extra cards and special game cards can be purchased. Large print bingo cards are available upon request. The prize for the jackpot game is $200 for a win in 52 numbers or less. A consolation prize of $50 will be awarded for a win in more than 52 numbers. There will also be a chance to win prizes at the dollar table.

Knights of Columbus Mother’s Day Breakfast, Sunday, May 14, 9:00 AM - 12 noon. Start Mom’s special day off right by taking her to breakfast at St. Mary’s. The Knights will be serving breakfast after each Mass in the Parish Hall starting at 9:30 am. The menu includes sausage, home fries, scrambled eggs, biscuit, juice, coffee, or tea. After breakfast, each Mother will receive a marigold and a spiritual token upon leaving. We look forward to serving you.

The Bethany Team for Parish & Community Life is a new ministry that was formed to evangelize through fun events focusing on family, faith and food! Our first event is on June 24 after the 4PM mass.
Crooked Creek Farms food truck and AleCraft Brewery will be available to purchase food, ice cream and craft beers. The playground will be open for children, and there will be John the Baptist themed trivia games and basket raffles! Please mark your calendars to show your support!

Confirmation Update. We will soon begin contacting families whose teens are eligible for Confirmation for March of 2024. If you will be an incoming 10th Gr. Outreach Ministries
You Can Save a Life! Free Narcan training session, May 30, 6:30-7:30 PM, St. Paul's Church, Pylesville. Hosted by The Mason-Dixon Ministerium. Narcan will be distributed to everyone who attends the training. We encourage everyone to attend this training even if they do not know anyone who is suffering from an opioid substance use disorder.
We're also encouraging teenagers and young adults to attend. They may find themselves with someone who has used heroin/fentanyl or has taken some narcotic pain pills. They need to be able to identify the signs of an opioid overdose and they need to know what steps to take in order to save a life.
Prevention and Recovery Ministry
Babies born to opioid users, including mothers in treatment with medications such as methadone, can develop withdrawal symptoms after exposure in the womb. In a new approach — called Eat, Sleep, Console — nurses involve mothers as they evaluate together whether rocking, breastfeeding or swaddling can calm the babies.
Research has shown that these babies have had shorter hospital stays and needed less medication when their care emphasized parent involvement, skin-to-skin contact, and a quiet environment.
Simple things like turning down the TV or the lights. These newborns were ready to go home about a week earlier compared to those getting standard care. And fewer received opioid medications to reduce withdrawal symptoms such as tremors and hard-to-soothe crying.
Food Pantry, Saturday, May 20, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. We are collecting canned fruit, tuna, and paper products for the May pantry.
The food pantry had been serving between 10 and 12 families each month. Due to circumstances at another food pantry, the last 2 months we served 17 families, almost double what we served in the past. Our bills at the grocery store to stock the pantry have been almost $500.00 the past 2 months. We are in desperate need of your monetary and food donations. Please prayerfully consider making a donation to the food pantry. We appreciate the donations we have already received. Several of the new families have several young children.
