A MESSAGE FROM OUR PANTRY LEADERSHIP
We have had a record number of visits to our pantry so far in 2023. In April 2023 alone, we had 439 visits! Since January we have averaged over 400 visits every month, more than DOUBLE what saw prior to Covid. Although we work hard to keep our shelves stocked with a variety of nutritious food options for those we serve, it is becoming harder and harder to do so. God is always generous and always provides so that we send no one away hungry!
But we need your help! You can help us by donating pantry items through our Amazon wishlist (found here), as well as by donating to help fund the Meijer Simply Give program that helps us buy additional needed groceries.
We still need more volunteers at our food pantry. We have a wonderful group of current volunteers who give of their time regularly. I honestly get embarrassed asking some of the same volunteers to help again and again when we need more assistance (you know who you are and I so appreciate your willingness to help!). With summer coming soon, many will have other activities and travel plans that will keep everyone busy so if you can commit to helping at least once per month please send an email to smgpantry@smgonline.org and we will get you information on how to sign up (you won’t regret it!), it is such a rewarding way to give back to those in need. Diocesan Day of Eucharistic Adoration for the National Eucharistic Revival

From May 14 to June 10, each pastorate in the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana is assigned a single day to spiritually prepare in Eucharistic Adoration for the Parish Phase of the National Eucharistic Revival, which begins on June 11, the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. This Sunday, May 14 is the day that has been assigned to our parish to participate in this spiritual preparation.
Join us in Eucharistic Adoration between 4-8pm this Sunday as we prepare our hearts for the upcoming Parish Phase of the Revival and for this magnificent year ahead with a special focus on Jesus’ Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament. Thank you for your continued love and adoration for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

The next Greater Understanding Project discussion, Can I Attend?, explains what to consider when a family member or friend invites us to a wedding, funeral, baptism, or other event that is not Catholic or is held outside of the Catholic Church. Learn when, why, if, and how it is morally acceptable to attend and participate in these events.

THE STORY
The Guerin Catholic Com-munity suffered a tremendous loss on April 23, 2021, with the passing of Alum-na Paige Schemanske from the Guerin Catholic Class of 2019.
Paige was a beloved member of the Guerin Catholic family and made her mark as a Golden Eagle both in and out of the classroom. In addition to being a 4.0 student, a founding member of the “Our Lady’s Sodality” Club, a member of the National Honor Society, and a runner on a state cross country team, Paige holds the school record in track for the girl’s 4×800 Relay and 3200-meter run.

More importantly, Paige had a ready smile, a gentle spirit, a kind word for everyone, and felt a call to help others suffering. Paige was studying to be a nurse at the University of Southern Indiana in hopes to serve others. Paige was known to pass out rosary rings, knowing the power of prayer, to help lift those up around her. This run is to honor Paige’s loving heart and remind everyone that we can help each other with our crosses in life! The proceeds will go toward the Paige Sche-manske Scholarship Fund, which supports students desiring to attend Guerin Catholic.
THE RUN
Come Saturday, June 17, 9am, to run a whole 5k (or half with a partner—relay-style) at Guerin Catholic High School’s Cross Country Course. You don’t have to be in shape…all walkers, kids, and families are welcome. We run better when we run together! This is all about community, faith, ser-vice, and fun!
