We’ve had the beautiful Gospels and Acts Volume of the Heritage Edition of The Saint John’s Bible here with us since November. Now come and see the original at St. John’s Abbey!
Some of the pages of The Saint John’s Bible are on display in a special gallery on the campus of St. John’s University and Abbey. We will take a motor coach to St. John’s to view the gallery, have lunch, and enjoy a tour with one of the monks of the famous Abbey Church designed by architect Marcel Breuer.
Please note: the registration fee includes the bus, gallery, lunch, and tour. Scholarships are available upon request. Registration closes on Friday, May 26 and spaces are limited so register today!

Pax Christi Nursery: The Pax Christi Nursery is available during the 9:00am and 11:00am Sunday Masses! Families are asked to please plan to arrive a few minutes early to register their child/children the first time they bring them.

RECONCILIATION
A priest will be available to hear confessions at 4:00pm each Saturday inside in the Chapel. Those who wish to celebrate this sacrament can enter through door #3. Please wait in the hallway to the right leading to the Chapel for the person who is celebrating the sacrament to be finished, and then come forward to receive the sacrament.

The natural world often inspires feelings of awe and wonder, which is itself a form of worship. We've decided that for the summer months, we will take advantage of that with all of the beautiful space available to us here at Pax Christi.
Starting on Sunday, June 4, we will hold our Sunday evening Mass outside, weather permitting. Please note that Mass will still be held if there is rain, we'll just move back inside to the main worship space.
Join us at the Labyrinth as we celebrate Word and Eucharist in “God’s original cathedral”, nature. Bring your lawn chairs or a blanket and follow the outdoor steps on the West side of the building (to the left of door #1) and around to the Labyrinth. The building will be open and the Labyrinth is accessible by the elevator by door #1 for anyone who may need it. End your weekend with a wonderful celebration of Mass at Pax Christi!

Are you dividing landscaping plants this year? We are planning to beautify the walking path around our campus retention pond. We will grow your unwanted plant divisions for a few years in nurseries and plant them on the walking path.

We are excited to announce that we are bringing back the Pax Christi Summer Concert Series! We'll be kicking this year's series off with the Eden Prairie Community Band. This 50-piece band will be playing lots of fun music, including some patriotic favorites as we get ready to celebrate Memorial Day! This concert is free to attend so bring a lawn chair, your favorite beverage, and your family, friends, and neighbors to enjoy these toe-tapping tunes. You may want to make sure you have your dancing shoes on as well!
There will be several concerts held throughout the summer at Pax Christi! Keep an eye on the Pax Christi website for more information about these fun (and free) concerts!

COMMUNAL CENTERING PRAYER THIS SUMMER

Two Options to Participate:

Centering Prayer is a receptive method of Christian silent prayer that deepens our relationship with God, the Indwelling Presence... a prayer in which we can experience God’s presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself. All are invited to join us for a communal experience of this prayer form, which consists of instruction in the method, a twenty-minute Centering Prayer experience, and dialogue and questions afterward.
Newcomers are always welcome, and no registration is required.

BOOMERS & BEYOND SUMMER POTLUCK
Celebrate Summer with Friends!
Tuesday, June 6, 10:00am-1:00pm, in the Dorothy Day Social Hall Room 266
Join us on Tuesday, June 6 in the Dorothy Day Social Hall to kick off the summer with the Boomer Summer Potluck! We'll also be able to move outside to the balcony overlooking the pond, weather permitting. We will start with games and cards at 10:00am. If you only want to attend the potluck, plan to arrive at 11:30am. Our famous BBQ master, Kyle Finken, Care and Support Coordinator, will be smoking some pork and Pax Christi will provide the trimmings for the main dish. Plan to bring your favorite side or dessert to share! Don't miss the fun!

The Monastery of the Heart is Joan Chittister’s powerful spiritual guide for all of us who are longing for a more purposeful life in this time of social upheavals and global transformations. It is written for spiritual seekers who are looking for new ways of meaningful living in the very center of our world—without ever withdrawing from it. The text is anchored in the ancient Rule of Benedict but attempts to redefine it for readers today. This series will run for six consecutive weeks, beginning the week of June 5th. Participants may choose to participate in a Monday evening session onsite at Pax Christi, or on Thursday mornings via Zoom. There is no cost to participate, though participants will be responsible for obtaining a copy of the book.

This summer, we’ll be using illuminations of The Saint John’s Bible as the basis of a 13-week series of Visio Divina. Each week of the summer, we’ll focus on a different image and also read the scripture associated with it. Together, we’ll take in the details of the illumination, then let God speak to us through the image, meditate on that image, share with one another (optional if comfortable with sharing) how the image might be speaking to us, and then respond in prayer. Our time together will be a type of small group experience where we can share and connect with one another.
These Visio Divina sessions will be held each Wednesday evening at 6:30pm in the Chief Joseph room 239 (next to the chapel) and will last about an hour. Anyone is welcome and you may attend any or all sessions. Watch for information on each session in eNEWS each week of the summer. Join us for something new!

AN INVITATION TO THE PAX LATINO COMMUNITY

Les invitamos que participen el jueves, ocho de junio a las 6:30pm en el salon de Dorothy Day en Pax Cristi para platicar, conocernos, y hacer recomendaciones acerca de la direccion (actividades, liturgia, programas) para la comunidad latina en Pax Cristi. Todos vengan, necesitamos sus ideas!
As a Welcoming Catholic Community, Pax Christi reaches out to include all its members in the Parish's life–especially to celebrate the Eucharist. Pax has a long history of embracing and welcoming all who come through our doors. The diversity found in Eden Prairie, West Bloomington, and the surrounding suburbs is also present in the membership of and participation in Pax Christi's many activities and liturgies. In 2016, through the efforts of the Worship Council, an annual Latino-oriented celebration commemorating Our Lady of Guadalupe was held in December. Ever since those first efforts, Pax Christi Catholic Community has continued to support and include its diverse communities, especially in annual events that honor Our Blessed Mother through ethnic devotions for the Indian, Filipino, and Latino communities.
As the leadership of Pax Christi focuses their attention on the engagement of our community members, this is a good time for the Latino community to re-group and re-convene; to listen to each other, make suggestions on the direction Pax Christi might go to more fully welcome Latinos at our Parish, and build a team that will help us celebrate the rich and diverse traditions of the Latino community. With the support of Pax Christi, all are invited to an organizational gathering on Thursday, June 8, from 6:30-8:00pm in Dorothy Day Hall, Room 266. Community member Cecilia Cervantes and Parish Director Carol Bishop will help lead the discussion. No registration is required and refreshments will be served. We truly hope that you will join us so that together we can recommend the future direction of the Latino ministry at Pax Christi Catholic Community.

CARAVAGGIO: THE SOUL & THE BLOOD

The Minneapolis Institute of Art currently has on loan Caravaggio's masterpiece, "Judith and Holofernes." As a way to help people better appreciate this work of art and the artist pin particular, we will view and discuss an award-winning film, which is a journey through his life, works, and struggles. Caravaggio's existence, no less than his art, is characterized by lights and shadows, contrasts and contradictions, genius, and sobriety. A revolutionary artist, he was often not so beloved by his contemporaries. Included in this film is an overview of the piece on display here in the Twin Cities. RSVPs are appreciated.

VACATION BIBLE CAMP 2023
Deeper in God

CALLING ALL CAMPERS! Join us for the BEST WEEK OF THE SUMMER: July 31-August 4 from 9:00am-12:00pm. We are so excited for Bible Camp Pax Christi style. Our theme this year is “God Speaks to us through Water Stories," where we will explore the wonderful gift of water and learn how to take care of it. Come sing with us and make some fun crafts. We have invited some surprise guest presenters who will share their passion for water and our camp site. Come for the faith; stay for the fun and friendships! We welcome students entering Kindergarten through Grade 5 in the 2023-24 school year to participate.

MIDDLE SCHOOL SUMMER SERVICE WEEK
Monday July 31 - Friday, August 4, 9:00am-4:30pm, Room 111, $180
Sixth- through eighth-graders, join us for a week of service and fun! The middle school summer service week runs concurrently with Vacation Bible Camp, with service opportunities in the morning and fun activities in the afternoon. Lunch and transportation are included. The participants will visit a variety of service sites and fun activities, such as Cascade Bay, Grand Slam, and Valleyfair!
