Hola y bienvenidos!
In these emails you will find daily updates (usually written by one of our youth) about OLL’s Guatemala Mission Trip 2018!
Today, as I sit in our hotel in San Lucas, I’m happy to let you know that we all arrived safe and sound in Guatemala and made it to the mission. I’ll be sharing with you briefly about our first day: it was a travel day that began quite early...with an airport meeting time of 3:30 am! After a brief layover and breakfast in Atlanta, the group hopped on another flight to Guatemala City.
We then passed through customs and began the final leg of our journey: a three hour ride to the mission in San Lucas Toliman. San Lucas is on the shores of Lake Atitlan and only about 60 miles away from Guatemala City but takes so long because of mountain roads. We were picked up by mission employees who drove us, and it was an excellent opportunity to bond, enjoy the amazing views, and catch up on some much needed sleep before arriving at our hotel.
After a brief time to settle in and explore, we had our first dinner at the mission and then received some orientation from one of the Long Term Volunteers. We were all pretty exhausted by this point, so turned in early to be ready for mass and our first work site in the morning. You’ll get a recap email at the end of the day, but every day there will also be a Teen Takeover of our Instagram story, so be sure to follow @ollyouthmin to see live updates of our adventures.
Hasta mañana. ¡Que Dios le bendiga!
