In the blink of an eye, May has passed us by. It has been, and continues to be so full!
This weekend marks several important moments for all of us. The feast of Pentecost and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit to the Church. In the United States, the observation of Memorial Day and our unending respect for the men and women who laid down their lives in service to our country. The rounding out of commencement ceremonies for the proud graduates who complete their academic studies. And the "beginning of summer" as we cast ourselves into the season of longer days and time blessed by friends and family.
May your weekend be filled with the blessings of all these and more!

Returning to the Chalice
Recently, the Archdiocese of Chicago has lifted all restrictions related to the celebration of the Mass that were instated during the COVID pandemic. This extends to the Ministry of the Precious Blood and its distribution during Mass. We are beginning preparations to restore this ministry in the coming weeks. Please look for announcements and reminders how how to reverently participate in this ministry. This means we are also in need of additional parishioners to serve in the extra-ordinary ministry of communion. Please volunteer to be trained for this ministry by emailing our parish deacons at liturgy@standrew.org
Response to the AG's Report
This past week, the Attorney General of Illinois issued a report concluding multi-year investigation into child sex abuse by members of Catholic clergy in Illinois.
We encourage everyone to examine the response to these findings reading the full statement by the Archbishop of Chicago, understanding our prevention measures, resources for survivors, and the statement from the 6 bishops of Illinois. As always, may we work diligently to prevent abuse from happening in the future and work to attend to the needs of survivors who have been wounded by the actions of Church personnel.
