Pentecost / Memorial Day weekend - an e-bulletin from St. John the Evangelist 05.25.2023
As the Father has sent me, so I send you.
St. John’s is seeking nominations for membership on the Pastoral Council. The council is a visioning and planning body of parishioners who foster full participation of the entire parish in the life and mission of the church.
If you know someone who has the gifts for this ministry, please nominate them by June 12, 2023. Find the nomination information here.
Members of the Pastoral Council will be available after all Masses on Pentecost weekend (May 27/28) to answer any of your questions. Stop by the Holy Grounds Cafe and see how you can serve the parish community. Questions? Contact Alan Pultyniewicz, Pastoral Council President atapulty@yahoo.com.
This weekend, we celebrate Pentecost! If you can, wear red as part of the celebration!
THIS WEEKEND:
+ This Sunday, we gather to celebrate the Pentecost. After the overwhelming experiences of Easter, Pentecost, now 50 days since Easter, sometimes seems like a minor event. But Pentecost is truly a key moment in the history of the Christian faith, often called the birth of the Church. Acts speaks of “a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting…All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.” The Holy Spirit is indeed among us. . Please find our mass schedule here. You can reviewthis weekend's scripturesorconsider this meditation.
+ Second Collectionthis weekend will be directed to Archdiocesan Schools while the Social Actions Pillarswill be shared with People in Need.
The Diversity and Inclusion Ministry committee seeks your assistance in brainstorming of ideas/activities to reach out and broaden our knowledge and awareness of our LGBTQ+ community.
Over the past few weeks, meetings have been held with various committees of the parish to outline the 2023—2024 calendar year. If you have yet to be contacted, please email scott.milller@sjerc.org.
