Dear St. Bonaventure Parishioners,
Did you know that each First Friday of the month we have Eucharistic Adoration in the chapel after the 9:00 am morning Mass until Saturday morning at 7:30 am. This all-day, all-night Adoration gives everyone time to ‘rest in the Lord’ and experience the peace only Jesus can give. This Friday June 2nd it coincides perfectly with the beginning of a Novena (9 days of prayer) leading to the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, also known at Corpus Christi Sunday on June 11th. We have put together Novena prayers for each of us which were passed out this past weekend, are still available in the foyer, and are also available on our website by clicking the Corpus Christi Novena banner.
I’d like to extend an invitation to a number of special parish events during the Novena. These begin this Friday June 2nd from 7:00-8:00pm with a Holy Hour and inspirational talk by me in the church. On Tuesday June 6th at 6:00pm we have Mass in Spanish followed by Eucharistic Adoration. Then on Wednesday June 7th from 7:00-8:00 pm join us for a Holy Hour and Confessions as we welcome a speaker from the Oakland Diocese’s Eucharistic Revival Team. Then on Thursday June 8th after the 9:00am daily Mass we have another Holy Hour with our own Fr. Ramon giving an inspirational talk. Finally, on Corpus Christi Sunday itself we will have Eucharistic Adoration in the church between each Mass. I invite you to come early to Mass on June 11th to experience the loving presence of Jesus on the altar as we prepare for Holy Mass.

June First Friday 24 Hour Adoration
The First Friday 24 Hours of Eucharistic Adoration for June will begin on Friday, June 2. We ask that you please sign up to spend some time with our Lord as the Blessed Sacrament cannot be left alone. We especially need coverage during the overnight hours. Corpus Christi Novena
As part of the National Eucharistic Revival, we will be praying a Corpus Christi Novena as a parish starting next Friday, June 2, leading up to the Solemnity of Corpus Christi on June 11. Please click here to download the prayer booklet.

Please join us for a Respect Life Rosary on Sunday, June 11. We meet after the 9am Mass at the Garden of the Unborn in the garden behind the church.

TWO Eucharistic mini-series available on Word on Fire
The Eucharist is a 6-episode mini-series in which Bishop Barron beautifully walks through the mystery of the Eucharist, bringing to light its reality as a sacred meal, the sacrifice necessary for communion with God, and the real presence of Christ.
The Mass is a 12-episode mini-series in which Bishop Barron walks step-by-step through the Mass, showing what all the signs and symbols mean and how the Mass is the great encounter with Jesus through the Eucharist.
How to Access these Series

Be Prepared for a STELLAR Adventure
Bible Camp is June 26-30, 2023
Now is the time to plan activities for those sunny days of summer. Our Bible Camp offers a pre-school program for 3- and 4-year-olds which meets from 9:30-11:30am each day of camp. Our Kinder – 6th grade program meets from 9:30-12:30pm. 6th Graders are counselors-to-be and will be involved in some really awesome camp activities.
Registration is going on now! The registration fees are $80 for preschoolers and $100 for Elementary aged students. Registration fees will go up by $10 after May 15. Register early!

Teens: 7th grade through high school - we need you to be our camp counselors. This is a great way to have fun, share your faith and serve in a variety of ways at camp.

Is the Holy Spirit Calling You to Work with Teens
We are looking for a Director of Youth Ministry. Our Youth Faith Formation programs are known to be spirit filled and engaging. Each year our Confirmation program typically serves 150-200 teens, Confirming around 100 youth each year.
The Director of Youth Faith Formation coordinates a comprehensive youth ministry program for high school aged teens (i.e. sacramental preparation for Confirmation, and High School Youth Ministry program) and middle school aged youth (Middle School Ministry program).

We will soon be saying goodbye to our long time Administrative Assistant, Virginia Teran. After many years of serving our parish, she is going to retire. Her warm heart and friendly smile, along with her hard work, will be missed. If you or someone you know would be interested in joining our staff, we are looking to fill her position. Nolan Turner's Eagle Scout Project
Hello Troop 444,
Hi, my name is Nolan Turner. I am a Life Scout, and I am fundraising for my Eagle Project which is a requirement to obtain my Eagle rank. This project is building a deck for the priests at St Bonaventure Catholic Church. It will be a 12ft x 12ft deck in the backyard of the priest’s living area and will be 6 inches above the ground. The deck will be built out of Redwood and will have a Deck Sealant to protect the wood from various weather conditions.
I have set up a GoFundMe to help offset the cost of the project. My goal is to raise $2,500.00. All donations will go towards purchasing supplies and materials needed to complete the project.

Dear St. Bonaventure Parish Community,
Birthright of Concord is so grateful for your support and generosity in the recent Respect Life Baby Shower event. Your generosity will allow our mothers and babies to benefit from your donations, which included diaper bags, many hand-knitted blankets and sweaters, several boxes of diapers and wipes, plus a wide assortment of baby clothes, swaddles, pacifiers and books. All of these baby items will help to celebrate and provide support for our moms in need! With the gift cards and cash donations, Birthright specifically purchases needed diapers and wipes and maternity clothes. We have donated half of everything we received to the Gabriel Project at Queen of All Saints Church in Concord.

Altar Linens Volunteer Needed
We need one or two more volunteers to help clean our altar linens. We especially need someone to assist on months with five weeks as well as a substitute. Responsibilities include cleaning, ironing, and folding the linens (purificators, hand towels, corporals, and sometimes altar cloths). Instructions and training are provided. Our Parish Food Pantry
Hello from the Food Pantry - We are looking for your part in the Food Pantry. We are so grateful for all the past monetary and food contributions that you have donated since COVID 2020. When we were on lock down, there was a grant which provided food for our pantry at no charge to St. Bonaventure. We were able to feed our families. In 2022 the grant monies stopped and we at St. Bonaventure have been purchasing food every week to serve our families. We have seen an increase in the families that we serve each week, as well as an increase in food prices. We serve roughly 120 to 140 families every week.
Our Crafters Fair in November is a major contributor to our ministry, the Food Pantry is set up to provide ALL of us the opportunity to contribute and support this Work of Mercy through the year. We ask you to make a contribution. You can add it to your Electronic Funds Giving or note the check or envelope as Food Pantry. We will also add special collections to help you give. The first collection is June 11th. Thank you for the support of this much needed ministry.

The Knights of Columbus are again sponsoring the Food For Families Drive to support the St. Bonaventure Food Pantry. Your generosity provides a big impact. You help many families in need each week and we give you a big “Thank You”. We will be collecting food on the last weekend of every month. For your convenience, we’ve provided a “Preferred Items” list to choose from. Keep this list and just toss a couple of extra items into your shopping cart. These items are the staples that are needed by our Food Pantry each week.

● Laundry Help for Those in Need: Our Clean Start Ministry volunteers come together once a month to do the laundry for those in need: those needing shelter, families who have fled their countries, day laborers and others living on the edge. Like many other expenses, the cost to do laundry increases every week. You may be shocked to learn that a wash load is now $8-10 per larger load and nearly $5 for a small washer. There is also the cost of the laundry soap, dryer sheets and bleach. You can help keep this ministry going and help it to grow beyond just one Saturday a month. We would love to add additional Saturdays. Please drop your donation in an envelope marked “Clean Start” in our Sunday collection basket.
● Staying connected - St Vincent de Paul: SVdP is here to help with temporary financial assistance to our parishioners in need. Please call the church at 925-672-5800 and ask or put in ext. 2234. Please leave your name, phone number and a brief message and one of our dedicated Vincentians will call you within 24 hours.

Adoration & Friday Holy Hour
We offer Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament after 9:00am Mass in the Chapel. Monday through Thursday, Adoration continues for one hour after Mass. Friday Adoration continues until 3:00pm. The Friday Holy Hour beginning at 2:00pm includes the Rosary, the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy and concludes with Benediction at 3:00pm.

STAYING CONNECTED
Sacraments, Pastoral Counseling, and Staff Support
We're here for you! Our clergy and pastoral staff are available to help. We can offer pastoral counseling by appointment, over the phone or by videocall, and the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is available in person when needed. Please call the parish office at (925) 672-5800 to make an appointment. We offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the church on Saturdays at 3:30pm.
The office is open for walk-up visits, Monday-Thursday 8:30am-4:30pm (closed for lunch 1-1:30pm), and Friday 8:30am-12:30pm. Staff are also available by appointment. Please call the main office number or call or email the staff person directly.
