Please prayerfully consider inviting a young man, aged incoming sophomore through outgoing senior, to attend Ember Day at Sacred Heart on Thursday, June 15th. This is a day of discernment hosted by the seminarians in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. The day begins at 8:30AM and will conclude by 4:00PM.One of the most important steps to increasing vocations is learning to practice inviting people to consider their vocation, and creating a strong faith community that promotes and encourages vocations.  Please click here to RSVP your spot!

2. CORPUS CHRISTI JUNE 11 - 10:00 a.m. 

Mass with Procession and Benediction - All Sacred Heart of Jesus parishioners are invited to attend the Corpus Christi Mass. There will be a procession outside (weather permitting) with the Holy Eucharist then process back into the Church for the closing and Benediction. First Communicants are invited to dress up in their First Communion dress or suit and be a special part of the procession!

The Mission Commission will be serving a shredded turkey sandwich, chips, applesauce and cookie as a fundraiser to support their Ministry. Pick up your meal-to-go in the basement from 10:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on June 25th. Tickets will be on sale after all Masses on June 3/4, June 9/10 and June 16/17. Tickets are $8 each.

5. CATHOLIC SPROUTS Catholic Sprouts has created literature and podcasts to help Parents teach their children about the Catholic Faith and Catholic Social Teaching. These resources bring complicated subjects into simpler terms and can be used for anyone at any age. Links to their podcasts are shared on their facebook page. Very early (in the fourteenth century) the custom developed of carrying the Blessed Sacrament in a splendid procession through the town after the Mass on Corpus Christi Day. This was encouraged by the popes, some of whom granted special indulgences to all participants. The Council of Trent (1545-1563) solemnly approved and recommended the procession on Corpus Christi as a public profession of the Catholic faith in the real presence of Christ in the Holy Sacrament.

During the later Middle Ages these processions developed into splendid pageants of devotion and honor to the Blessed Sacrament. They are still publicly held, and often with the ancient splendor, in Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, in the Catholic sections of Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Canada, Hungary, and in the Slavic countries and South America. Sovereigns and princes, presidents and ministers of the state, magistrates, members of trade and craft guilds, and honor guards of the armed forces accompany the liturgical procession while the church bells peal, bands play sacred hymns, and the faithful kneel in front of their homes to adore the Eucharistic Lord. The houses along the route of the procession are decorated with little birch trees and green boughs. Candles and pictures adorn the windows; and in many places, especially in Latin countries, the streets are covered with carpets of grass and flowers, often wrought in beautiful designs.
