As it should be on a Sunday, it was the most relaxing day. We did not have church right away in the morning, so we got a little bit of extra sleep. Today was one of my favorite breakfasts, because we got eggs and pancakes. After that great meal, we walked down to the docks on the lake and split up into two groups to go on the boats. This year we went on smaller boats that were faster. The 15-minute boat ride is maybe the most scenic boat ride in all the land. Between the volcanoes and different silhouettes we saw in the mountains, it was very cool, unlike anything on Lake Minnetonka. One thing that really caught our eyes on the boat ride is how you see these very poverty-stricken towns right next to the very luxury houses on the lake. When we arrived in Santiago we could see right away how it is more of a tourist town. Lots of venders walking around and trying to sell you things was a different experience. We then walked up to the church. We had to walk through the market which consisted of lots of people in tight spaces. Once we got to the church we went to the room and now chapel in which Father Stan Rother was shot. Being in that Holy presence, we had mass. The main thing we all took away from learning about the soon-to-be saint is that everyone is here for a reason and nobody else can do what you were made to do. Father Stanley Rother was very motivational to learn about. After church we went to have lunch at a restaurant. I was disappointed, but probably should have not been surprised, when their cheeseburgers did not taste nearly as good as I hoped. After lunch we went shopping through their many shops. Although a lot of them sell similar items, I managed to find a few shops with original artworks. In one of these I bought a cool painting of a sunset over Lake Atitlan. After buying a few more items we got back on the boat and headed back to San Lucas. We just had some relax time at the hotel, then went to dinner where we had chicken. The rest of the night was finished with a reflection then our competitive game of CatchPhrase, in which my team won. Today was a lot of fun and very relaxing. I will be ready to go back to work tomorrow.
God Bless,
Charlie
