Dear EDGE Families,
These past four years in youth ministry have been a work of heart. The volunteers, parents, and youth have worked together with me on Christ’s mission to build up the body of Christ here at St. Michael. I am grateful for the opportunity I have had to cultivate holy ground, build relationships, and invite our children to encounter Christ.
Over the past 14 months, my husband and I have been on a journey of prayer and discernment. Even with many difficult challenges, we have continued to turn to the Lord in prayer and ask Him daily for guidance.
An opportunity was unexpectedly revealed when I had the chance to interview and consider a new full-time youth ministry position at St. Mary. I am writing this to let you all know that I have chosen to accept this position. This has not been an easy or painless process but I hope you can come to a peaceful understanding as I have been able to do. I feel strongly that the Lord is leading me on a new mission. With equal confidence, I know our God will not abandon the EDGE community here at St. Michael. I fervently pray and trust that He will lead the right person to care for and guide our youth in my absence.
You have helped build a firm foundation for our middle school program to grow and thrive. I will be praying for you all in the weeks and months ahead, as we walk these unknown steps of transition. I pray for the leader that God is guiding to join the St. Mike’s team. I carry you in my heart and will look forward to encountering you around our parish, as Jeff and I will continue to be members here at St. Michael.
Rest assured that our Faith Formation staff is currently working on a succession plan and will be in communication with you all.
With a grateful heart,
Laura Stapleton
