Taste and
See that the Lord Is Good!
What do you do when you feel like the walls are closing in and you have nowhere to turn? That was David’s experience. He had saved the king’s life and reputation multiple times. Yet, he was still hunted, an outcast, a man without a country. He couldn’t fight for his country. He wouldn’t fight against his country. And he knew he couldn’t run any longer. It was enough to drive a person crazy—which, for David, seemed to be the only option.
What can we learn from David’s experience? When everything in life goes sideways, how can we taste and see that the Lord is good?

New Collegiate Sabbath School!
Looking for a vibrant, post-high school community to connect to? Our Collegiate Sabbath School meets Saturdays at 10:30 am in the Elias Community Center. If you’re from the ages of 18-24, we’d love for you to join! For more information, please contact Pastor Gabe.
Community Back to School Resource Fair!
“Woah! Look at how many games they have!” exclaimed one young boy to his brother as they filed into the Elias Community Center. Huge smiles spread across their faces as they saw the table piled high with colorful game pieces.
“Balloon animals, face painting, a jumper! This place just keeps getting more and more awesome.” the boys continued, eyes wide with excitement. While the kid - friendly, fun activities certainly drew the attention of our younger guests, the more practical resources were a hit with their parents and guardians.
On Sunday, July 9 from 10 am to 1 pm, Azure Hills hosted a community resource fair for the purpose of assisting local families with children prepare for the upcoming school year. Approximately 120 local families attended, showing interest in receiving physical resources such as backpacks with school supplies, calendars, diapers, and school clothes. Dental cleanings, pediatrician check-ups, haircuts - followed by a back-to-school portrait session to document the new haircut - and even massages for the grownups were a few of the much appreciated services provided.
We are grateful to the Azure Hills members who volunteered both behind the scenes in the weeks leading up to this event as well as the more than 40 adults and their families who showed up to help on Sunday morning. These eager volunteers joined multiple community partners and vendors, to set up booths, distribute supplies, play games, manage refreshments, take down equipment, and generally meet to assist anyone coming onto our campus looking for ways to prepare for the new school year. We extend an additional special thanks to the vendors and community partners who helped make Sunday’s Resource Fair a huge success: GeriSmiles Dental, The Treatment Centre, Morgan Green MD, Aaron Amaya - licensed barber, Genesis Hair Salon & Beauty Supply, Family and Kids Foundation - backpack and school supplies, Joseph Amaya - portraits, Julie’s Party Rental, Catering by Gigi, Charm and Happy, and the Dwell Company.
The remaining backpacks and school supplies will be donated to local students. We also plan to distribute some of the remaining clothing and supplies to an organization in Tijuana, Baja Mexico with whom we partner.
You may notice members wearing yellow shirts emblazoned with the willing phrase “How can I help?” These are the shirts they donned while working the resource fair. If you are interested in volunteering in any future outreach services or projects please contact Pastor Laia.
There is a day coming when all things will be made new. Take a minute to thrive with Pastor Tara VinCross.

Church Family
On Sabbath afternoon, July 8, the Parents' Sabbath School gathered up in the mountains for a hike. Although few in number due to distance and the middle of summer, we had a relaxing time together and since it is a parents' class after all, we witnessed our kids having fun and getting into mischief outdoors in nature.
We invite you to MC 8 at 10:30 am on Sabbath mornings if you don’t have a regular Sabbath School class. The class is close to many of our children’s sabbath schools, so we aren’t far if we need to check on our little ones, and it’s a great class to connect with others on the same journey.
