Feast of the Assumption of Mary

Holy Day of Obligation
Wednesday, August 15th is the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven. The Church holds that, at the end of her earthly life, Our Lady’s body was assumed into Heaven. Universal celebration of the Feast can be traced back to about the 6th century. It is considered the most important of all Marian feasts because it commemorates Mary’s entrance into eternal life.

Masses for the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, a holy day of obligation, will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 15 at 8:30 am 12:00 noon and 7:00 pm.

Youth Apostles Missionary

Please come and see a presentation by Shrewsbury native & parishioner, Jeff Badstubner this Wednesday, August 15th in the large meeting room after the 7:00 pm mass. Jeff recently graduated from Virginia Tech and has dedicated himself to a year of missionary service with Youth Apostles in Virginia. Youth Apostles is a mixed association of Christian faithful dedicated to inspiring youth to a Christ-like life based on the Lord's sacrificial love.

Jeff is excited to share with the parishioners of St. Mary's his stories of serving the youth as well as sharing the needs for his missionary year. He writes, "Today, more than ever, the youth are in dire need to know of Christ's relentless and unconditional love for them. As I continue to seek out God's will in my life, I find it extremely fulfilling to be walking alongside young people, caring for them and supporting them in their walk with our Lord.

2018 Family Festival - September 14-16

In just a few weeks our ordinary parking lot will transform into THE place to be in Shrewsbury. The weather is sure to be perfect, the prizes are ordered, silent auction items are flowing in, food vendors are preparing delicious menus, and the entertainment is lined up! This year's festival is jam-packed with good stuff... some new things plus some of your old favorites.

Volunteer opportunities range from selling tickets to helping kids at the inflatables, and all kinds of things in between.
