BIG (HUGE) REP NEWS, ICC BBQ, SHARING COMMUNITY SAVED, DANCE FOR PUERTO RICO BENEFIT
Dear Parishioners,
This week we celebrated the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was wonderful to see so many people at our Masses. On the three Holy Days of Obligation we observe for Our Blessed Mother, we thank Her for Her "YES" to the will of God. Were you able to say "yes" to Mass on the Day of Her Assumption into heaven? On to the latest!
PARISH COUNCIL WELCOME BACK BBQ Sunday, September 16 - 4 PM
This year our Parish BBQ is going to be "of the people, by the people, for the people". That's right. This year a team of our own Parish Council members will be setting up, and cooking, and serving! Our Parish is becoming more and more the "family" we always wanted.
So - what can you do? Show your stuff. Bring a side, or bring a dessert! Share with your brothers and sisters. It will make the whole day that much sweeter. If you know what you're "bringing to the table", you can share it right below. If you're not sure, you can tell us later. But the most important thing to bring - is YOU!
Sides and dessert donations can be dropped off at the upper lot/gym side entrance beginning 11AM on Sunday, September 16. So what's it gonna be...?
I can't wait until the Parish BBQ, and I am going to be bringing a killer...
Delectable dessert (e.g. cupcakes, cookies, or brownies - something easy to eat)

BIG (HUGE) REP NEWS
Today we have three important items to announce.
New REP DRE: The first and most important is that the REP has a new Director of Religious Education. Rowena Hoblin joins us with many years of experience and formal training as a Catechist and a Catechetical Director. She is truly an asset to our Parish, and you will be meeting her very soon.
New REP Start Date: The first day of REP classes has been changed to Wednesday, September 26, due to the school district's closing on September 19. Catechetical Sunday remains Sunday, September 16 worldwide, so whether you are a REP family, or your kiddies have grown up and moved out, please show up to pray for and support our Catechists and program. Let's make it a Mass to remember - and then celebrate it at our BBQ later that day.
CATECHISTS STILL NEEDED: The REP still needs Catechists for the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades - and Mrs. Hoblin is a Catechist's Catechetical Director. In fact, Mrs. Hoblin's claims to fame are providing continuing education for Archdiocesan certificationto Catechists... and a big heart. Now is an excellent time to become a Catechist at ICC, with all of its benefits.
Pray about it. Join the team. Join the family.
SHARING COMMUNITY SAVED
Did you think the REP News was all the good news you were going to get this week? It's not. This week one of our wonderful Parish Council members stepped forward to take on the role of running the Sharing Community for ICC. Please join us in thanking Krystal Trama for agreeing to take on this sacrifice and tremendous responsibility - with love for those less fortunate than us.
Better still, Jack Mascone, CYO Co-Director, has announced that our CYO will be joining Krystal in coordinating the work of feeding the hungry, with its own team of dedicated and interested parents and students. Once again, ICC Parishioners have stepped forward to show we are a family.
Parishioners - it is going to be a great year for ICC!
DANCE FOR PR BENEFIT
Friday, September 28 - 7PM - ICC Gym
Liana and Michael Garcia are well know and well loved at ICC. This year they graciously opened their beautiful home to all of us, as the site of our 2018 Spring Fling. Their generosity and care is not limited to ICC, as Liana has been working tirelessly to raise funds and resources for Puerto Rico.
So, in the wake of the utter devastation of Hurricane Maria, ICC will be assisting the Garcia's and the organization Teens 4PR, with a benefit dance right here at home! Think delicious food. Think salsa dancing. Think fun!
We will be sharing more information with you next week, but make sure to SAVE. THE. DATE.
That's it for today. Make the most you can of your remaining vacation time, and get plenty of rest. It's going to be a busy year.
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Fr. Ashman
