I don't know about you but when I see "getting to know you", the song from the King and I just pops into my head and goes on auto-play. I took a peek at the lyrics online and they seem apt for this first Flock note that I am sending to all of you. By the end of the song it says:
"Haven’t you noticed?
Suddenly I’m bright and breezy
Because of all the beautiful and new
Things I’m learning about you
Day by day. "
With that in mind, let me give some things to know about me. I am Christy Granda. I have been a parishioner here at Blessed Sacrament for about 20+ years and during that time I have been involved in activities like RCIA, Elementary catechist, Christ Renews, Ladies Rummage Sale, Funeral luncheons, Boy Scout Troup Secretary and Treasurer, CARE, Small Faith Groups, the former Worship Environment Committee and Lector at 8:30 Mass.
I recently retired as a special education teacher after 31 years; 24 of them with Hemlock Public Schools. I only feel relief as I see the school buses go by now and not the exhaustion of back to school.
My husband and I are empty nesters. I have a 25 year old son living in Minneapolis and a 27 year old son completing his student teaching in Grand Rapids. Guess I didn't complain too much about the teaching life for him to follow that career.
When I am not working, I can be found gardening, painting (watercolors are my preferred medium), reading, knitting, crafting, walking or biking.
I am thankful to serve all of you in this ministry and hope to be getting to know things all about you, day by day!
