With the recent breaking news on the sexual abuse crisis in our Church, including the Grand Jury report in Pennsylvania, it's easy to feel helpless and angry. What can we do in our daily lives that will make a difference?
Here are several concrete actions we can take in our everyday lives:
Pray. Pray for the victims. Pray for our Pope, Bishops and Priests.
Read about the issue to inform yourself. This week is Archbishop Jackels' message, and next week will include a video from Bishop Barron.
Attend, or watch live on the internet, the Service of Lament.
Archdiocesan Service of Lament to be held on September 14
In light of the sexual abuse scandal within the Church, Archbishop Jackels will lead a service of lament on September 14, 2018, at 7:00 pm in the Cathedral of St. Raphael in Dubuque.
Archbishop Jackels explains that the purpose of this service is to "acknowledge guilt for sin, say sorry, and even be so bold as to ask pardon from God and others."
As a conclusion to the service, Archbishop Jackels will consecrate our archdiocesan Church family to Mary, asking her to pray for us and to form us as followers of her son, Jesus.
The service is open to the public, and will be live-streamed as well. Watch the live-stream by visiting www.DBQArch.org/Live.
