Come to the Church either Tuesday or Wednesday, September 25 or 26, at 6:15 PM for about one hour of training. We are in need of Eucharistic Ministers for Sunday Masses. This is very rewarding - to look into all the faces that are receiving Christ!

Cake pans will be available after Masses on the September 16 weekend. If you are new to Emmaus, these are for the cakes that are won at the Cake Wheel during the festival - hugely popular!! Pick-up a cake pan and bring it back with cake on Saturday, September 29.

And the Funnies...
A woman found herself standing at the pearly gates. St. Peter greeted her and said, "These are the gates to heaven, my dear. But you must do one more thing before you can enter."The woman was very excited, and asked St. Peter what she must do.
"Spell a word," St. Peter replied.
"What word?" she asked.
"Any word," answered St. Peter, "It is your choice."
The woman promptly replied, "Then the word I will spell is love: L-O-V-E."
St. Peter welcomed her in, and asked her if she would not mind taking his place at the gates for a few minutes while he took a break. So the woman was sitting in St. Peter's chair when a man approached the gates. She realized it was her husband of many years.
"What happened?" she cried. "Why are you here?"
The husband stared at her for a moment, then said, "I was so upset when I left your funeral that I got in an accident. Did I really make it to heaven?"
"Not yet," she replied. "You must spell a word first."
"What word?" he asked.
The woman responded, "Czechoslovakia."
The woman and her husband were at a group Reconciliation service at their parish. Because they were so frail, they went into the confessional together. The woman tearfully admitted to the priest that she had shoplifted a can of peaches because she was hungry and forgot to bring cash with her to the store. The priest gently asked how many peaches were in the can. She sobbed and replied, "Nine."
The priest said that for her penance she would have to say nine Rosaries, "one for each peach."
Just then the woman's husband spoke up. "Father," he said, "She also stole a can of peas."
