Do You Like to Sing?
Go Fly a Kite
The Christ the King school library will once again offer a preschool story time for children ages 3-5 and their accompanying adults. If you have other children younger than that, you are welcome to come and hold your child during this time and you can both participate. The first story time will be on Wednesday, September 12th from 3:00-3:30 pm. It will be held in the school library. Go to the school office (south building), sign in, and then go over to the north building where the library is. Our first theme will be kites.
Hope to see you there!! Marcia Helten-Librarian
Public Library Card Sign-up
On Wed. Sept. 12th from 3:30 - 4:15 pm, you will have an opportunity to sign up for a Wichita Public Library card, if you do not currently have one. Julie Sherwood, WPL, will be here in the Faith Room of Charity Hall to do just that. If you or your child would like to obtain a WPL card, you (an adult) will need to be present with your child in order to have one issued. The adult will need to have some type of picture ID (driver's license, etc.) for themselves and be willing to sign for responsibility on the card for your child. You will also need to bring documentation proving your place of residence. This can include a letter sent to you, magazine, or utility bill, to name just a few. Without documentation, Julie will not be able to issue any cards to you. This is a convenience way for you to get a library for yourself and/or for your child(ren). Questions? Email Marcia Helten at: ateach93@cox.net
Remember to Bring Your Old Eye Glasses This Weekend!
Please consider donating your old eyeglasses to help a child or adult in an underdeveloped country to see. Christ the King Knights of Columbus Council 16700 is working to provide your old eyeglasses to the Kansas Lions Sight Foundation, Inc. Drop boxes will be provided at all church entrances starting this weekend Saturday September 1 through Sunday September 9. Your expression of charity to help the needy is greatly appreciated!
A Better Choice in Need of
Bilingual, Spanish-Speaking Volunteers!
At A Better Choice, we provide Christ-like counseling to women concerning pregnancy issues, abortion alternatives, and healthy lifestyle choices. All of our services are offered at no cost to the clients, including pregnancy tests, sonograms, and community referrals. Facing the possibility of an unexpected pregnancy is frightening. The complication of not understanding a language adds to the feeling of being alone and afraid. Help us show love and offer lifesaving services in a more familiar language to our clients who speak Spanish. Translators can volunteer as front desk receptionists or peer counselors. We require that you are a woman, prolife without exception, attend Mass every Sunday, are at least 18 years old, and can commit to a weekly 4 hour shift. If you or someone you know would like to pursue volunteering, please don’t hesitate to call or email! Now is an excellent time to call me as our next training class is scheduled for early October. As always, please pray for our ministry, especially that we are able to fill this urgent need and show Christ’s love more effectively to our clients who speak Spanish.

RCIA classes begin September 20. If you or someone you know is interested in joining the Catholic faith, please contact the parish office at 943-4353.
You are invited to attend the 15th annual charity golf event to benefit Sisters of St. Joseph Dear Neighbor Ministries. The event started in 2004 as the outreach part of PROJECT: PAYBACK, which was an effort of the 1951 graduates of Cathedral High School to give back to the Sisters of St. Joseph who taught them by supporting the various charitable works of the Sisters. The story of this “under the radar” golf tournament is a testimony of dedicated people determined to make a difference in the Wichita community. The name “Shamrock” comes from the sports team at Cathedral who were known throughout the state, as the Shamrocks. Proceeds from the 15th Annual Shamrock Open will be used to address the many needs of Hilltop residents in order to help them alleviate, prevent, or escape the cycle of poverty. Shamrock Open Golf Tournament will be held at Willowbend Golf Club on Monday, Oct. 1, 2018. For registration information contact Brenda Wasinger at 316-684-5120.
