Parish Receptionist Job Opening-Full Time (40 hours)
POSITION PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to answer telephones, greet, assist visitors and callers to the parish, and provide designated clerical assistance.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Assures a timely and accurate receipt of telephone calls, messages, and visitors to the parish. Receptionist provides proper assistance and referral to callers and visitors.
B. Participates in the outreach and welcoming ministry of the parish. This may include writing and sending letters to new parishioners inviting them to register.
C. Provides general information to persons calling or visiting the parish. Receptionist utilizes other church, social service, community and government directories to provide accurate and helpful information to persons.
D. Oversees the maintenance of various office equipment. Receptionist assures the following machines are in good working order: FAX, copier(s), telephones, Postage machine, etc. Works with designated vendors to assure machines are efficiently serviced.
E. Provides clerical assistance as requested by the supervisor. This may include calling to schedule or confirm meetings, filing, collating, copying, sorting and preparing labels.
F. Assures that packages/mail left at the parish are forwarded to the appropriate person/place. Assures incoming and outgoing mail for the parish are handled appropriately. Receptionist opens and distributes incoming mail and ensures outgoing mail is taken to the mailbox on a daily basis. Assists in bulk mailings.
G. Assures the parish office is properly opened in the morning and securely closed in the evening. This is accomplished by ensuring that all machines are turned off, the answering machine is on, windows and doors are closed and locked, and all appropriate lights and heat are turned off.
H. Provides assistance and information to parishioners requesting Mass requests and Mass cards.
I. Maintains a current level of knowledge and skills required to function as a receptionist. This may be accomplished through reading appropriate materials, participating in training opportunities and workshops as approved.

A baptized member of a Catholic parish faith community.
Roman Catholic in Good Standing
Is committed to the Mission of the parish.
Demonstrated successful work experience in an office environment.
Ability to learn, operates, and maintain parish telephone system.
Ability to work with vendors to maintain office equipment.
Demonstrated competence in word-processing; ability to learn parish software.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with a variety of people. Must be Bilingual English/Spanish and proficient in Speaking, Reading, and Writing
Demonstrated ability to recognize and honor diversity within the parish community.
Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality.
Must be a team player.
Your Compensation: $12.00 between $ 14.00 per hour depending on experience.

- You will accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) at the rate of 6.2 hours per pay period (4 weeks annually)
