Hello, Everyone!
It appears there was an issue with our last letter. Only part of it was mailed?
My apologies! System failure! :-0 I'll just start all over.
Our week was great! This weather allows children to get the wiggles out on the playground & outdoors. As a result things are much more quiet in the classroom.
Children had a great time making their shadows. Of course it was fun to try to catch it, step on it & see our shadows mimic what we're doing, too. A great thing to do on a sunny day!
Each child had the opportunity to paint with an ice cube. A sprinkle of powdered tempera paint, an ice cube & a small warm hand...let the magic begin! Soon Mrs. Mac & I heard comments & giggles: "But it's so cold!" My hands are freezing!" "Look! The ice cube is melting." The "creations" sent home on Friday tell it all.
This acticity showed how cold our hands can get in Winter! And what happens if an ice cube gets warm.
One little one liked this experiment a lot! In the bustle of helping children wash hands and laying wet pictures on the drying rack I turned around to see...Bennett.
She was looking at her fingers...smiling. Carefully she licked the color off each finger.
I assured her we would wash up after she finished painting. Bennett looked at me, smiled & continued. She even licked her arms clean!
We heard about rainy days & had an experiment in a jar! How do clouds make rain?
Add water to a jar ( represents air), top it off with a cloud ( shaving cream). Drip blue food color ( rain) onto the cloud. What will happen? Will the rain stay in the cloud/ Will the cloud sink? Ask your child what happened!
Gym time is always a good time! I wish you could see how much fun a three year old can have with a ball or a Hoola -hoop.
At last all the familie portraits are completed. Check out the display on our Art board the next time you're in the classroom. They are quite entertaining!
Yes, there was a book in your child's backpack on Friday! This book, " Duck On A Bike" , is your child's to keep. Several parents, grandparents & staff members have graciously donated to a book fund. Thanks to these generous sponsors, this fund allows Mrs. Love Smith to purchase a book a month for each 3 & 4 year old, Kindergartner, 1st & 2nd grader! The book mark in your child's book indicated who the sponsor is. If you would like to send a note or thank you to this sponsor, do so. If you're not certain who the sponsor is, give the note to Mrs. Love Smith or me. We'll make sure the sponsor hears from you! Thank you!
The next few weeks will keep us busy learning about our senses, Fire Safety & of course Halloween! Help!
If you have a pumpkin or two to spare, we would love to have them in our classroom. Pumpkins are great thing to feel, stack, roll, sit on , cut open & investigate etc. They would be a good addition with our sensory theme! Thank you!
Our garden only produced mini pumpkins this year. I promise to share! ;-)
Thank you everyone for the tasty snack provided.
Mrs. Mac & I are looking forward to more fun in learning with your child!
