Hello, Everyone!
Our five senses are keeping us in suspense! It's fun to hear children suggest what our eyes, nose, hands, ears & tongue help us do.
Mrs. Mac started us off with a book: "Sense Suspense". The photos in this book challenge the reader/listener to guess: Is what you see something you can hear, feel, smell or taste?
We explored with mirrors & talked about reflections. Mrs. Mac took small groups on a walk through the building to see where they could see their reflection.
What do you see when you look into a pan filled with water? Ask your child.
Tuesday found us guessing what things feel like.
The grass...felt wet & soft.
The sidewalk...hard & bumpy.
The ground cover on the playground...squishy & warm.
Back inside, guessing bags were waiting to be checked out. Each child had a chance to feel a surprise inside a lunch bag. What could it be? What does it feel like?
The descriptive words we heard were amazing: kind of scratchy, soft, hard, bumpy, fuzzy, rough...
Keep reading to these children! They have a great vocabulary!
Show & share on Thursday brought several things we could feel & hear. Bennett's book of Farm Animals was an instant hit!
Friday will be the "Grand Finally". What snack could possibly involve all our senses?
Ask your child!
Looking ahead:
Next week is Fire Prevention Week!
Piper's dad,Mr. Morris, is a Fire Fighter! He will come to our classroom on Tuesday to show us some of the gear firemen wear & use. He will tell us about a Fireman's work. You may want to talk to your child about this, to mentally prepare him/her for this visit. We'll chat about it , too.
Tuesday, October 9, is also Picture Day!
Thank you for all the yummy snack provided this week! No left overs ;-)
Mrs. Mac & I are looking forward to more fun in learning with your child!
