Dear Friend,
We hope the beginning of your week is filled with joy! We are glad to report that the Church is ablaze with joy after yesterday's canonization of seven new saints in Rome.
You may not have noticed him on television, but our Pastor, Fr. Sergio Romo was there in Saint Peter's Basilica specifically because of his admiration of one of the saints who was canonized, Saint Oscar Romero, martyr to the faith. Many of us may faintly recall from our childhood the importance of Saint Oscar Romero. He died in 1980 during the civil war in El Salvador. Because of his frequent advocacy for the rights of the poor and oppressed and his willingness to challenge the military dictatorship of his country, he was shot to death while saying Mass. His non-violent action for peace and unceasing call for a more just world deserves our attention and imitation. Saint Oscar Romero, pray for us!
If you would like to learn more about him, we'd recommend

Here are a few important reminders from the parish for the week ahead.
