No Hiding Place
Jesus began to speak, first to his disciples, "Beware of the leaven–that is, the hypocrisy–of the Pharisees. "There is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed on the housetops. (Luke 12:1-3)
One dangerous forms of reasoning in our modern thinking is to think that God doesn’t exist. If God doesn't exist, then moral duties would no longer hold true and religion is no longer necessary. So, Is life better with/without God? What do you think? Jesus tells the pressing crowd of people that each of them is noted by God. God is so intimately connected with each person that he even knows the number of hairs on their head. He can do this because He is our creator, we are the work of His hand. (cf. Isaiah 64:7) God is in our midst and He is working through us. We cannot escape from His presence. “Can a man hide himself in hiding places / So I do not see him? declares the LORD. / Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?" declares the LORD. (Jeremiah 23-24) Let us make time today to encounter God in each other and praise Him in all you do and say.
“Grant, O my God, that my soul may be a little heaven wherein You can rest with delight. In order that I may attain this end, help me to remove everything that might offend Your divine eyes, and then permit me to live always with You in this little heaven. Wherever I am or whatever I do, You never leave me alone; grant that I, too, may always remain with You. At every hour of the day and night, in joy or sorrow, in every work and action, may I always know how to find You within me! (Elizabeth of the Trinity, Letters – First Retreat, 1)
