Thank you to the Parent Association and all of you for your generous gift of food for the staff during parent-teacher conferences this week. What amazing treats and meals; we are so very lucky to have your support and can't even begin to thank you enough. Much appreciation! We truly have the best parents!

Monster Hands and Witches' Brooms
The fourth graders will be selling Monster Hands and Witches’ Brooms as a fundraiser for a service learning project. The proceeds will benefit the Community Health Free Clinic.
Monster Hands will sell for $0.50 and the Witches’ Brooms for $0.75. Each will be filled with popcorn and candy corn. We will be selling to the classrooms on Monday, Oct. 29, and Tuesday, Oct. 30. Bring your quarters and we will be happy to exchange them for Monster Hands and Witches’ Brooms. Thank you for supporting the fourth grade fundraiser.

Linn-Mar Transportation Reimbursement
This is a reminder that the Non-Public Transportation Reimbursement Forms for parents who live in the Linn-Mar school district are due in by December 1 for the first semester. I have attached a form for your convenience. This form is only for parents who live in the Linn-Mar school district.
Parents are required to submit two forms each year, one due December 1 and the other due May 1. Reimbursement is in the form of a check that is mailed out in late July/early August of each year. Please note that forms must be submitted twice each year by the parent in order to qualify for the maximum reimbursement. The address for returning the form is located at the bottom of the form.

- Tuesday, October 30 - Plaid is rad and drugs are bad, so spot ways to stay Drug Free! Dress up: WEAR PLAID OR POLKA DOTS!
- Wednesday, October 31 - No Bones about it – staying Drug Free is the choice for me. Dress up: HALLOWEEN ORANGE & BLACK DAY!
- Thursday, November 1 - I’m “Red”y to say Sock it to Drugs. Dress up: Wear RED SHIRTS (with dress code pants) and CRAZY SOCKS!
- Friday, November 2 - Catch the Wave of a Drug Free Life! Dress up: HAWAIIAN DAY!
Please Donate Extra Halloween Candy to Green Square Meals
Once again this year, we are looking for some awesome kids to help brighten the day of the guests at Green Square Meals! St. Matthew Parish assists in preparing a monthly meal at the local soup kitchen called Green Square Meals for more than 150 homeless individuals. These folks love Halloween as we all do, but they may not be able to celebrate it. We are hoping that St. Matthew students might want to share some of your candy with others, so they can have a fun Halloween too. If you would like to donate some of your Halloween candy (parents, that includes left overs at your house after trick-or-treating is done) to Green Square Meals, please bring it in and place it in the designated box by the school office on the days following Halloween. Our Club Fun students will be bagging up the candy to distribute. You can visit St. Matthew’s Parish website under the Social Justice link to learn more about our Green Square Meals ministry. Thank you for brightening the day of those who are less fortunate!

Tuition Tax Credit
Attached is the updated information and for for tuition tax credit for your use. The credit is equal to 25% of the first $1,000 of the total for each child. The maximum credit is $250. Please complete and send in the form for us to acknowledge and sign. After this, we will return the form for your tax purposes.

Reminder...R&R for Riesenbergs
We just wanted to remind you that there is still time to donate to our R&R for the Riesenbergs collection. As most of you know, Marie Riesenberg has been battling stage 4 breast cancer for almost 5 years. Her husband Scott and son Luke (2nd grade) have been her wing men, supporting her every step of the way. The fight they face continues to be a strenuous battle. We would like to help them take a family vacation to a beautiful beach, so they can have some time to rest and relax! A condo and one plane ticket has already been generously donated. If you would like to provide additional financial support a fund has been established thru Hills Bank. You can drop off/send a donation to any Hills Bank location or to the school office. Please address your donation to: R & R for Riesenbergs. Thank you, as always, for your prayers and support for this Jaguar family.

Playoff Football Tickets on Sale
Xavier Football is hosting Pella in the first round of the IHSAA football state playoffs this Friday, tomorrow, (10/26) at Saints Field at 7 p.m. Advance tickets to Friday's game are on sale in the XHS Activities Office during office hours. Tickets are $8 each. Remember that because this is a playoff game, no passes can be accepted.Xavier Volleyball Regional Final
#2 Xavier will compete against #14 Fairfield with a trip to the state tournament on the line. Xavier is looking to qualifying for the state tournament for the 3rd straight year and win their first state championship in school history. Come support the Saints at home, Ron Thillen gymnasium at 7 PM on Monday, October 29th. Cost is $6 at the door and no passes will be accepted.
Parent Handbook Highlight
As we enter the busy months of November and December, I ask that you keep in mind the reason for the seasons! Spend time with one another as a family, attend mass and celebrate the Eucharist together and most importantly keep God at the center of all you do, think and say. Often times in the hustle and bustle it is easy to forget the little things. As parents, it is our job as the primary caregiver to give our kids the opportunity to witness the magic of our faith. Essentials Team Highlight
In essentials we are not only teaching our respective curriculums, but we are teaching skills that will be valuable for a lifetime. In PE we learn how important it is to live a healthy lifestyle. This includes food choices and continuing to be active throughout our lives. In Music we learn how everyone has an important part to play. How hard we work on our individual sections directly impacts the end result. This helps students to see that every role is important. In Art we are not just making pretty things, we are learning how to manipulate tools (scissors, glue, rulers, etc) in the correct manner to help with fine motor skills we use in everyday life.
