Unveiling the Statue of St. John Bosco
We unveiled the statue of St. John Bosco located on the northern side of our new Church this morning. It was a beautiful and memorable ceremony witnessed by the entire St. John Bosco School community. Having the statue of St. John Bosco located on the northern side of the Church facing the St. John Bosco school campus is a symbolic reminder that we are one community of faith called to serve God through our community. The event was followed by the VIP Mass for the school. These two events were part of our celebration of the Feast of St. John Bosco and the closing of Catholic Schools Week.
Charity and Development Appeal (CDA)
This weekend is the Kickoff Weekend for the CDA in all parishes in the Diocese. Our parish goal for the CDA this year remains the same as last year at $85,000. We will hear directly from our Bishop through a video during all Masses, inviting everyone to participate. I thank those who have already participated in the CDA this year. We will provide you with an envelope this weekend, especially for those who have not received their CDA envelope by mail yet. There are easier ways to give this year such as “Text to Give,” QR Code, etc. We will explain the different ways to give during the Masses. We will also give you a weekly update about our parish performance in the Appeal.
Legion of Mary
I am glad to inform you that we are looking at re-establishing a new ministry in our parish community, The Legion of Mary. We made an attempt to establish the ministry in early 2020 but put it on hold as a result of COVID-19 and moving out of the Church building the following year. A delegation of Legion members from our neighboring parishes, Corpus Christi, St. Steven’s, and St. Andrew’s will be coming to our parish next weekend to begin the process of establishing a Legion Praesidium. They will give a pulpit presentation and will be available at the Church entrances to explain about the Legion and receive sign ups.
