When Frankie approached the confessional for the first time in about 5 years, she was nervous. Her hands shook and she felt a little sick as she wondered, “Does Jesus even want me?”That is until she heard the words spoken to her after she said, “Bless me father, for I have sinned…”
The response she received from the priest changed her life.
“Jesus is so happy you are here.” It was in this moment, through the Sacrament of Confession and the priest's words, that Frankie (pictured in Confession with Fr. Shea Bowora) experienced Jesus’ healing in a personal way.She finally allowed herself to be loved.
This transformational moment led Frankie to travel around the US sharing the Catholic faith with young people and eventually become a youth minister. Frankie now describes her heart as “on fire for the Lord.”
The Sacraments are powerful!! They are the very means through which Christ comes into our broken lives with His healing – He walks beside us and sets us free! In the Sacraments, our priests are the instruments through which the authority and healing of Christ rushes upon us, changing everything – changing us!!
One of the many ministries you make possible through your generosity to the CDA is the formation of our seminarians who will one day, God willing, be the faithful and merciful priests that fill our confessionals, accompany us at our sick beds, preside over marriages, and bring us the Holy Eucharist at every Mass.

Happy 16th Anniversary Holy Spirit Shawl Ministry
Since its inception, the Ministry has distributed over 8000 prayer shawls and lap blankets to parishioners through the Office and at the Healing Masses, as well as, to various organizations throughout the Valley such as: Christ the King (St. Peregrine Shrine), Ironwood Cancer Center, Rachel's Vineyard, Grief to Grace Retreat, Emmaus Ministry, Editha House, Red Bird Ministries, Friendship Village, and Diocese of Phoenix Ministries and Mass of Healing and Abuse. In addition to these local organizations, the Ministry has also sent shawls to Flagstaff, AZ and Uvalde, TX. The Ministry also creates the baptismal cloths given during the Baptismal ceremony, and the pet cloths available at the Pet Blessings.
The Prayer Shawl Ministry has promoted unique gifts (knitted, crocheted, embroidered, tatted, jewelry, cards, pottery), created by our members, at the annual Crafts Fair. Revenue and donations received are used for yarn and packaging supplies.
The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets every Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the Social Hall; please join us. With over 60 members attending the meetings or working from home, the shawls and lap blankets are created to comfort those in need. If you know someone who could benefit from this comforting gift, the blessed shawls and lap blankets are available in the Parish office.

Garden News Update
The volunteers have been busy in the garden preparing for spring. You may have noticed all of the foliage on the roses have been stripped away and trimmed. In doing so, this will allow the plant to become stronger and healthier. Once two to three inches of new growth appear the plants will be fertilized and set in motion beautiful new blooms on the plants.
You may have also noticed an area on the south side of the grape arbor that is taped off to prevent parish members from walking through to the other side. This was done in the fall when wildflower seeds were planted. They might be mistaken for weeds but, they are currently starting into their bloom cycle. Three different varieties were used. Red penstemons, yellow California poppies, and Bluebells. Once in full bloom, the bed will present a beautiful showing of color.

Finally, we are so grateful and blessed with the abundant rain this winter. However, it has created very soft soil in the beds around the garden. We ask for your consideration and cooperation in not walking through the beds to short cut to the other side. You will find yourself sinking deeply and possibly ruining your shoes. In the future we hope to add decomposed granite to the beds. In the meantime, please be patient and not walk in the muddy areas. As the seasons progress, the garden will become more beautiful for all to enjoy.
The Church Cleaning Society is looking for a few good women and men.
If you feel a calling to help keep the church clean and orderly, this may be just for you. The group dusts, vacuums the church/chapel and sacristy, cares for the sacred vessels, and cleans the fingerprints from the glass in the church. There is nothing strenuous about this ministry. It is a group of parishioners who donate one to two hours of their time once a month.

50th Anniversary Update through April 2024
As you know, Holy Spirit Parish was established in April of 1973, so our "year of celebration" continues through April of 2024. Here are the planned activities that are coming soon:
- February, March & April - anniversary raffle ticket sales.
- February 11 - TET Festival with our Vietnamese-American congregation.
- March 16 - Fire & Light Lecture Series presents 'The Life of St. Patrick.'
- April 20 - Gala Dinner/Dance with "silent raffle" gift baskets.
- April - The Anniversary Photo Directory (of those who sat for photos last fall)
- April 21 - Closing Mass at 11 AM.
It has been a wonderful celebration so far, and the Anniversary Committee has been working tirelessly since the celebration began last April with 50 hours of Eucharistic Adoration; and then the historical poster boards were made and displayed; the Floriani Concert and Meet and Greet took place last June; the Anniversary T-shirt sales are going great; the Picnic in the Park was a success in October; and other activities were scattered here and there throughout the year.
And now, the celebration continues!
PRAYER FOR THE SPREAD OF PERPETUAL ADORATION
Heavenly Father, increase our faith in the Real Presence of Your Son Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist.
We are obliged to adore Him, to give Him thanks and to make reparation for sins.
We need your peace in our hearts and among nations. We need conversion from our sins and the mercy of Your forgiveness.
May we obtain this through prayer and our union with the Eucharistic Lord.
Please send down the Holy Spirit upon all peoples to give them the love, courage, strength and willingness to respond to the invitation to Eucharistic Adoration. We beseech You to spread Perpetual Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament in parishes around the world. We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord. Amen

ROSARY MAKERS MINISTRY
Rosary Makers Ministry meet every 2nd Saturday of the month in room 10 at 10:00. Learn how to make rosaries.
All supplies are furnished. Rosaries can be made at home if you can not attend all the meetings.
Other ways to be involved besides making rosaries include;
- Package supplies for rosary makers
- Package rosaries for distribution
- Distribute rosaries to hospitals,
hospice, senior living places etc.
