WELCOME TO THIS WEEK'S FLOCKNOTE
In Mark 9:2-10, we encounter the Transfiguration of Jesus on the mountain. This profound event reveals the divine glory of Christ, providing a glimpse of the Kingdom of God. The disciples witness the radiant presence of Moses and Elijah, symbolizing the Law and the Prophets, affirming Jesus as the fulfillment of both. This manifestation underscores the importance of recognizing Jesus as the Son of God and listening to Him.
The cloud that envelops them signifies the divine presence and calls us to embrace faith despite life's uncertainties. Peter's eagerness to build tents reflects our inclination to cling to comfortable moments, yet God calls us beyond, urging us to follow Christ through the challenges of life.
As we navigate our faith journey, may we be open to the transformative encounters that deepen our understanding of Jesus. Let us heed His voice, leaving the mountain strengthened to share the light of Christ with the world.

SEASON OF LENT
Lent is the yearly celebration by the Church of its corporate conversion in Jesus Christ. During Lent, the Liturgy prepares the Catechumens to celebrate the Paschal Mystery by the various stages of Christian Initiation. It also prepares the faithful for Easter as they recall their baptism and enter into penance in preparation for the greatest Feast of the year.
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of Fast & Abstinence. All Catholics ages 18-59 are to observe fasting and those 14 and older are to abstain from meat on those days.
Penitential Discipline: Penance is an important requirement of the Christian life. Fulfillment of this duty involves prayer, works of piety and charity, self-denial and fulfilling our obligations more faithfully. Every Friday of the year, especially during Lent, is a penitential day.
