Hi everyone! Hope the beginning of your week has been a good one! As you know we have had crayfish in our classroom for a few weeks. It is time to find them homes! Thursday of this week I will send home crayfish to anyone who wishes to have one. BUT, no worries, if I don't hear from you either directly or by signed note, I will not send one home with your child! (NO MATTER HOW MUCH THEY BEG!!!) These crayfish cannot be let loose in any creeks, streams, ponds...they will kill all the other populations! If you take one and down the road wish to "get rid" of it, you put it in a baggie and put it in the freezer to dispose. DO NOT put in ponds... If you wish to let your child have one you will need a tub or fish tank, small pebbles in the bottom of it and a "hut" of some sort. A sour cream or butter container cut in half and duct taped to the bottom works great! Also, set some water out now! Water has to be set out at least 2 days pryer to placing the crayfish in it. Remember this when changing their water also. Please let me know with a letter to me or a call to me if you want a crayfish! Thanks and enjoy!
