WELCOME TO THIS WEEK'S FLOCKNOTE
In John 12:20-33, Jesus speaks about the significance of his impending death and resurrection. He compares his fate to a seed that must fall to the ground and die to bear fruit, symbolizing the salvation and eternal life he offers to believers.
This passage emphasizes the necessity of surrendering to God's will, even in the face of suffering and sacrifice. Just as Jesus faced the cross with courage and obedience, we are called to trust in God's plan for our lives, knowing that through our own trials and challenges, we can experience growth and transformation.
Jesus also warns of the consequences of rejecting him, highlighting the importance of making a choice to follow him and live in the light of his truth.
Ultimately, John 12:20-33 challenges us to embrace the paradox of the cross – finding life through death, and glory through surrender.

SEASON OF LENT
Lent is the yearly celebration by the Church of its corporate conversion in Jesus Christ. During Lent, the Liturgy prepares the Catechumens to celebrate the Paschal Mystery by the various stages of Christian Initiation. It also prepares the faithful for Easter as they recall their baptism and enter into penance in preparation for the greatest Feast of the year.
Good Friday is a day of Fast & Abstinence. All Catholics ages 18-59 are to observe fasting and those 14 and older are to abstain from meat on those days.
Penitential Discipline: Penance is an important requirement of the Christian life. Fulfillment of this duty involves prayer, works of piety and charity, self-denial and fulfilling our obligations more faithfully. Every Friday of the year, especially during Lent, is a penitential day.

24th, at St. John’s Church.

CHRISM MASS
Tuesday, March 26, 2024; 10:30am @ St. Mary’s Cathedral - 279 Johnson Street, Kingston. The Chrism Mass is an Archdiocesan celebration, and all parishioners and catechumens are encouraged to attend!

St. Mary’s Parish in Carleton Place has once again booked a 54-seater Coach Bus that will be stopping at St. Francis de Sales in Smiths Falls and Blessed Sacrament in Lombardy on the way to the Cathedral.
