WELCOME TO THIS WEEK'S FLOCKNOTE
On Palm Sunday, we commemorate Jesus Christ's triumphant entry into Jerusalem, where crowds laid palm branches at his feet, heralding him as their king. This event marks the beginning of Holy Week, a time of reflection and preparation leading up to Easter Sunday.
As we wave our palm branches, let us also reflect on the symbolism they carry: the palms symbolize victory, peace, and righteousness. Jesus rode into Jerusalem not on a warhorse, but on a humble donkey, demonstrating his message of humility and peace.
Yet, Palm Sunday also foreshadows the events of Good Friday, reminding us of the trials and tribulations Jesus faced. Amidst the cheers of the crowd, Jesus knew the path that awaited him—suffering, crucifixion, and ultimately, resurrection.
As we journey through this Holy Week, may we emulate Jesus's humility, courage, and unwavering faith. Let us prepare our hearts to walk alongside him, embracing the sacrifice he made for our salvation.

SEASON OF LENT
Lent is the yearly celebration by the Church of its corporate conversion in Jesus Christ. During Lent, the Liturgy prepares the Catechumens to celebrate the Paschal Mystery by the various stages of Christian Initiation. It also prepares the faithful for Easter as they recall their baptism and enter into penance in preparation for the greatest Feast of the year.
Good Friday is a day of Fast & Abstinence. All Catholics ages 18-59 are to observe fasting and those 14 and older are to abstain from meat on those days.
Penitential Discipline: Penance is an important requirement of the Christian life. Fulfillment of this duty involves prayer, works of piety and charity, self-denial and fulfilling our obligations more faithfully. Every Friday of the year, especially during Lent, is a penitential day.

CHRISM MASS
Tuesday, March 26, 2024; 10:30am @ St. Mary’s Cathedral - 279 Johnson Street, Kingston. The Chrism Mass is an Archdiocesan celebration, and all parishioners and catechumens are encouraged to attend!

St. Mary’s Parish in Carleton Place has once again booked a 54-seater Coach Bus that will be stopping at St. Francis de Sales in Smiths Falls and Blessed Sacrament in Lombardy on the way to the Cathedral. The cost is $30 per seat- you can pay on the bus by cash, or ahead of time by e-transfer accounting@stmarysparishcp.com with the memo line: “Kingston bus”. Our Life Matters Core Group will offer the 9am Mass on the 3rd Wednesday
(April 20th) of each month for the Protection of All Human Life. Mass to be followed by a Rosary in Reverence for Life. Everyone is welcome!
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Holy Face Follow-Up: On Thursday, April 4th, following the noon Mass, we will be hosting a short supplemental gathering to last week's beautiful presentation, 'Rediscover the Holy Face'. During this time, we will summarize the key elements of the Devotion to the Holy Face, teach and pray the Holy Face Chaplet together, and provide instructions on enrolling in the Confraternity of the Holy Face. This will be a great opportunity for those who were unable to attend the formal presentation, as well as for those who would like to go a little deeper. All are welcome!!! We will meet in the Narthex where light refreshments will be offered.
