Dear Friends,
Christ is Risen, He is truly Risen! Jesus has risen from the dead. This announcement resounds in the Church throughout the world along with the song of Hallelujah, He is alive forever in our midst. This Good News has lit up like a new flame in the Holy Night of the Vigil, in the night of a world facing crucial challenges.
Our broken world needs the hope and joy that Easter brings more than ever. St. Paul tells us that “If Christ be not raised from the dead, our faith is in vain.” (1 Cor. 15:14). Our observance of Easter is not just a mere recollection of the central events of Christianity - it is a life-giving sacrament and sign of hope, that is realized in our lives each and every year.
This Easter at our parish, we especially have looked forward to welcoming a large class of new Christians. These were those, who even during these extraordinary times, seek that new Life in the Sacrament of Baptism. On Easter night, these individuals die and rise again with Christ to the newness of life, the very meaning of the Easter mystery.
Each year we also are invited to renew that same miracle in our lives, as we journey with Christ in His Passion, Death, and Resurrection. We are given the perseverance and grace we need for the true goal of our lives - to journey to Eternal Life.
On behalf of Fr. Joseph, Deacon Gary, Deacon Mark and the parish staff and our many wonderful and devoted volunteers, I wish you a most blessed and Holy Easter. May this Easter afford you that true joy which cannot be taken away.
In our Risen Lord,
Fr. John
