The readings for Palm Sunday provide an excellent opportunity to read & pray with scriptures while imagining yourself as one of the people in the scene. This prayerful way of reading scripture allows us to spend quiet time with Jesus letting him reveal to you what he wants to through these readings.
HOSANNA IN THE HIGHEST
This weekend at Mass we receive palm fronds which we use to participate in the reenactment of Christ's triumphant arrival in Jerusalem, days before he was crucified. In the Gospels, Jesus entered Jerusalem riding a young donkey, and to the lavish praise of the townspeople who threw clothes, or possibly palms or small branches, in front of him as a sign of homage. This was a customary practice for people of great respect. (a)
Palm branches are a widely recognized symbol of peace and victory. The use of a donkey instead of a horse is highly symbolic, it represents the humble arrival of someone in peace, as opposed to arriving in war.(a)
Palm Sunday is the final Sunday of Lent, and the beginning of Holy Week. (a) Source: catholic.org
Paz Bien!

SAFEGUARD THE CHILDREN
Paying attention to negative behavioral cues
A child may not be able to verbalize when he or she is being abused, but certain signs may prompt caregivers to take a closer look. Red flag behaviors may include a sudden change in behavior, like a child hating something he previously liked, or changing eating habits. Children suffering from abuse may become increasingly moody, aggressive, or depressed, or secretive and defensive. For more red flag behaviors, read the VIRTUS® article “Being Attentive to Children and Youth” at lacatholics.org/did-you-know/.
If you would like to submit an announcement for the Bulletin, please send a draft to bulletin@ourladyofguadalupechurch.org by noon on Monday. Attach images separately as jpeg or png files.
