UPDATE - Physician Assisted Suicide Bill
(Excerpts from a message from Andrew Rivas, Manager of Policy & Advocacy, ADW)
Maryland Senate President, William Ferguson, announced that the physician assisted suicide bill will not be voted on this year. Parishioners from the Archdiocese of Washington & Baltimore took the time to voice their opinions. By the latest count, the Maryland Catholic Conference estimates around 160,000 emails were sent. Postcards and letters were also hand delivered and phone calls lit up the capitol switchboard all saying they oppose physician assisted suicide. Several representatives have openly said they listened to their constituents' concerns and decided not to support the bill "for now." Let us all offer up a prayer of thanks and ask our Heavenly Father for help as we continue to support or oppose other important bills still being debated in Annapolis.
