LET'S PREPARE OUR HEARTS BEFORE MASS
Ask the Holy Spirit to open your mind and heart to hear the Word of God. Take time to read the
Easter seems to be coming early this year to me. How about you? But our God is a God of the unexpected, and often comes into our lives when we are not quite ready. But even if we had enough time, could we ever be ready for the Lord of the Universe to visit us? So let us accept the gift God brings early this year, the gift of New Life! He is risen and brings new life. Like the first sprouts of springtime coming from the barren branch, God wants us to be renewed. To receive the new life, does require we let go of all that prevents that new life. This is the paschal mystery, resurrection follows death. Spring follows winter. Light follows darkness. Peace follows conflict. Forgiveness and reconciliation follow sin and repentance. May the Risen Lord draw us to himself and help us leave behind all that hinders our response. Peace and Happy Easter. - Fr. Paul
Amen.
EASTER IS MORE THAN ONE SUNDAY
THE OCTAVE OF EASTER
The Catholic Church refers to the first eight days from Easter Sunday through Divine Mercy Sunday, April 7, 2024, as the Octave of Easter. This is an especially joyful time! Every day in the Octave of Easter is so important that it is treated as a continuation of Easter Sunday.
EASTER IS FIFTY DAYS OF REJOICING! The Easter season doesn't end after the Octave of Easter. There are50 days of Easter from the first Sunday to Pentecost (May 19, 2024). It is characterized, above all, by the joy of glorified life and the victory over death expressed most fully in the great resounding cry of the Christian: Alleluia! All faith flows from faith in the resurrection: "If Christ has not been raised, then empty is our preaching; empty, too, is your faith." (1 Cor 15:14) (usccb.org)
EASTER SEASON RESOURCES & REFLECTIONS

SAFEGUARD THE CHILDREN
Abuse may be hiding behind positive behavioral changes
Last week, we looked at negative behavioral changes that could be red flags for abuse. It is important for caregivers to remember that some seemingly positive changes could also be signs of abuse, such as when a child tries to “be perfect” so as to avoid a feared consequence or in some way “control” circumstances so as to avoid or minimize further exposure to a traumatic situation. To learn more, read the VIRTUS® article “Being Attentive to Children and Youth” at lacatholics.org/did-you-know/.
