Good Friday Collection for the Holy Land
On Good Friday, March 29th, we will take up the annual Pontifical Collection for the Holy Land. The challenges for Christians living in the Holy Land are great. Many have chosen to leave, and others continue to do so, depleting the Christian faith communities there and making the need of families that remain all the more urgent. The Good Friday Collection aids the ministry of the Holy Land Franciscans, who for 800 years have nourished Christians in the Holy Land with presence, care, and service. Your support helps the Church to minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools, and offer religious education. It also helps to preserve the sacred shrines in the land where our faith was born.
Bring the Eucharist To Those Who Can’t Attend Mass
Homebound Ministers offer special care by bringing Communion to parishioners who are sick, infirm, homebound, or elderly. We visit parishioners in their homes and visit Catholic residents of the Hebrew Home (Wasserman and Smith Kogod) for which our parish is sacramentally responsible. A flexible schedule and training is provided. For more information, contact Claudia McAuliffe at icmm247@aol.com.
Bereavement Support Group
St. Elizabeth Bereavement Ministry will offer an eight-week bereavement support group series for adults who have experienced the death of a parent, spouse or significant other. The sessions will be held virtually using the Zoom format. The spring series will meet on Wednesday evenings at 7 – 8:30 PM, from April 10 to May 29. There is no fee but participants must register in advance. Space is strictly limited so call early. To register call Kevin Byrne (301-325-1796) or Claudia McAuliffe (301-881-1457).
