Hello, Everyone!
Last week found us busy celebrating Halloween!
Carving a Jack-o-Lantern was entertaining. Throughout the project Mrs. Mac & I invited predictions: What will it look like inside the pumpkin & what will we find inside of it?
Will the white pumpkin be white inside or just orange like the other pumpkin?
Children offered answers:
"There are seeds inside, Mrs. C! Remember? And that slimy stuff."
"The white pumpkin is...maybe green inside?"
It was not white or green. It was ...( Ask your child if he remembers !)
Next challenge: Deciding what shape eyes and nose should be.
Do we want our Jack-o-lantern to be happy, scary or grumpy?
Mrs. Mac's group decided on happy. Mrs. C's group wanted it to be grumpy. We tried our best to carve according to wishes.
Thank you so much to everyone who helped make our Halloween Party a success!
We paraded through classrooms. Kindergarten & 1st grade had to parade through our classroom to see all the cool costumes. Both classes were at recess when we were ready to walk through school!
After refreshments a game was played: Under which Witch Hat is the bat hiding?
A great time was had guessing!
All through the week & with Reading Buddies we enjoyed hearing Halloween tales, recited rhymes we learned & sang our spooky songs.
Thanks for all the yummy snacks provided this week!
Ah, yes! I forgot to introduce our helper in preschool!
Elisabeth Brown, a senior at Washington High School, is assisting & job shadowing in our classroom for a few weeks! She's in our classroom from 7:45 -9:45 a.m. , helping & joining in were ever she can or is needed. It's great to have her help in our room!
