Joe and Mary enjoyed spending time with their family. They were very caring, nurturing, and teaching their children about other cultures, customs, and foods in their travels in the military life. They also enjoyed camping and picnics.

Mary had a very special faith life devotion to the Blessed Mother and the Rosary, and her special saint was St. Anthony. Mary was an administrative assistant for the Department of Commerce. Mary enjoyed reading, writing, and crocheting.

Joe retired from his career in the Army. He also worked for the federal government NOAA. Joe enjoyed gardening, making beautiful furniture, and fishing.

Joe traveled a lot for his career, and when he was traveling in Asia, a nun boarded his flight and sat next to him. It was Mother Teresa! He said they had a wonderful conversation, and he took her to lunch between flights.

Mary’s uncle was in an orphanage in Baltimore, Maryland, and his bunkmate was Babe Ruth. Her uncle became a priest, and of course, we know the story of Babe Ruth!
