Dear Friend,
Do you remember your baptism? An odd question to start off a conversation, but there is a reason we intentionally recall our baptisms during the season of Easter. If we go back two thousand years or so, most Christians were baptized into the Church at Easter. Out of practicality, the Church began to baptize individuals at other times of the year as well, but the season of Easter gives us a chance to recall the very center of our beliefs - namely, the baptismal promises.
Do you reject Satan? Do you reject his work? Do you believe in God the Father? In God the Son? In God the Holy Spirit, who continues to sustain us and works through us to this day?
The witness of our worship during Easter is to renew our baptism, not just nominally through a set of ritual action, but in very the mission of our lives. In light of this, we have prepared as a reminder (thanks to the generosity of a fellow parishioner) Holy Water bottles from the Easter font that are available for each household to pick up after Mass this weekend. Let us avail ourselves of this gift and keep the spirit of Easter, the mission from our Baptism, alive in our hearts.
