Diaper Drive!
The collaborative and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul are holding a diaper drive on the weekends of April 27-28 and May 4-5. Collection areas will be at Sacred Heart only in the upper church and in the lower church hallway, before and after Masses those weekends only. We are collecting diapers size NB-7, to benefit a city-wide diaper distribution organized by Newton Neighbors. Open boxes are accepted, but please be sure to bring diapers in labeled plastic sleeves or bags. The donated diapers will benefit families in Newton and beyond who are facing economic insecurity and struggling to afford diapers for their children.

Ending “The Most Serious Existential Threat to Humankind”: A Presentation of Hope and Action
Sunday, April 28, 4-5:30pm
Peter Metz of Pax Christi Newton and Mass Peace Action has just returned from a three-week trip to Japan, where he met with over a dozen A-bomb survivors, other anti-nuclear activists, and three Japanese Bishops allied with two American Bishops to spearhead a drive to build a world without nuclear weapons. He will talk about what he learned there, why it makes him more hopeful that the goal of eliminating nuclear weapons can be achieved, and what we can all do to end the culture of war. For this interactive event, please come to question, debate, and go away with hope and action plans. Slides and information about the Peace Museum there will also be shared. Fr. John Sassani—5th Anniversary
Please join us next weekend as we mark five years since our former pastor Fr. John Sassani died— on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019. We will pray for Fr. John at all Masses in the Collaborative next weekend. As we pray for him, we can be confident that he is praying for us in turn!

Back in January, Cardinal Seán O’Malley announced a major change to the Archdiocesan policy - moving the typical age of Confirmation from 15 or 16 to 13/14 (Grade 10 to Grade 8) over the course of the next several years. To guide our planning for this change, we invite all Religious Ed families—with children of any age, but especially those in Grades 5 and up—to complete a quick survey about the change.
