Dear brothers and sisters,
Christ is Risen! He is truly risen! This weekend's liturgy offers us these readings to stimulate our faith in the risen Christ. In this Gospel, Saint Luke narrates how the two disciples of Emmaus, after having recognized him when breaking the bread, went to tell the good news to the rest of the disciples. While these disciples were speaking, the Lord Himself appeared and showed them His hands and feet with the signs of the passion. The Church gives us this reading so that we do not fall into disbelief and may believe in the resurrection of Christ. We are the people of the resurrection, if we do not believe in the resurrection we are lost in our lives. “If Christ has not been resurrected - says Saint Paul -, our preaching is vain, our faith is also vain” (1Cor 15, 14).
In the resurrection, the Lord sends his Spirit so that we can evangelize and give our lives for those closest to us. The first reading also tells us about how the Spirit leads the apostles to get rid of their fear, to go out and give their lives for everyone, so that the nations may know Jesus Christ. This time after Easter is a time of evangelization. Let us ask the Lord for the grace to always announce his mercy to all those who are close to us.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas,
¡Cristo ha resucitado! ¡Verdaderamente ha resucitado! La liturgia de este fin de semana nos ofrece estas lecturas para estimular nuestra fe en Cristo resucitado. En este Evangelio San Lucas narra cómo los dos discípulos de Emaús, después de haberlo reconocido al partir el pan, fueron a contar la buena noticia al resto de los discípulos. Mientras estos discípulos estaban hablando, el Señor mismo se parece y les muestra las manos y los pies con los signos de la pasión. La Iglesia nos regala esta lectura para que no caigamos en la incredulidad y podamos creer en la resurrección de Cristo. Nosotros somos el pueblo de la resurrección, si no creemos en la resurrección estamos perdidos en nuestra vida. “Si no resucitó Cristo - afirma san Pablo-, es vana nuestra predicación, es vana también nuestra fe” (1Cor 15, 14).
En la resurrección el Señor envía su Espíritu para que nosotros podamos evangelizar y dar la vida por los que están más cerca de nosotros. La primera lectura también nos habla de cómo el Espíritu lleva a los apóstoles a perder el miedo, a salir y a dar la vida por todos para que así puedan conocer a Jesucristo. Este tiempo después de Pascua es un tiempo de evangelización. Pidamos al Señor la gracia de anunciar siempre su misericordia a todos los que están cerca de nosotros.

Father Julio would like to invite you to join him on a pilgrimage to Italy in April 2025. 2025 is a Jubilee year in Rome and the Vatican has announced that the theme of this Jubilee is Pilgrims of Hope. The pilgrimage will be limited to 50 people. We will visit Rome, Assisi, Sienna, Naples and San Giovani Rotondo. If you are interested in learning more about the pilgrimage, please join Father for a meeting on Tuesday April 16th at 6:30pm in the PLC.
The YOUTH GROUP will meet every FRIDAY at 6:00pm in the church basement. Come have an encounter with Jesus Christ through prayer and build friendship in the small group talks. All 6th through 12th grade
students are welcome!

FIRST COMMUNION & CONFIRMATION MASS will be celebrated on Saturday, May 4th, at 10:00 am. ALL students must be at the church by 9:00am. The rehearsal will be on Monday, April 29th, at 6:00 pm for students and sponsors. Confessions for STUDENTS ONLY will be on Friday, May 3rd, at 6:00pm.
