Men’s MassI invite all men of the parish to join me this Saturday morning at 8:30 for special Men’s Mass. In my homily I plan to talk about how Catholic men are called to more intentional discipleship. A light breakfast will be served in the Great Hall after the Mass. Please join us for this time of prayer, reflection and fellowship
Survey on an early MassOn Wednesday, we sent out to the parish a brief survey to ascertain how much interest there is for an early Sunday morning (7:00 AM) quiet Mass. A quiet Mass is without music. If you have not yet responded, please do so. I am not saying yet that it will happen. I am curious as to how much interest there might be in a Mass at that time. If there is significant interest we will evaluate whether or not we can make it happen.
The monarch butterflies are passing throughI was reminded early this week that Austin is on the flight path of millions of monarch butterflies as they migrate to Mexico for the winter. Then, when I was walking on the trail at Lakeway City Park I saw hundreds of them in the garden near the dog park. That was a beautiful thing to see.
You may have been wondering…….what was going on here on Wednesday if you noted the large sign on Lohman’s Crossing and/or came into the PLC and saw all sorts of people at tables in the Great Hall. We hosted a day for agencies that are providing assistance to those who were victims of the recent flooding. We were really happy to do that as a community service. I was pleased, as well, because each time I was in the PLC, I saw that a number of people were being helped. It did take up some staff time in support of the agencies there and some parish resources, but it was well worth it to help our neighbors in need. So, I want to thank all our parishioners for providing, through the Sunday offertory, what we needed to do this.
Thanksgiving Community SupperEmmaus needs new leadership for our annual Thanksgiving Community Supper. The Marcoux’s are retiring from leading this event after many years of service. I am indebted. This event has grown, last year serving some 600 meals. I want this event to continue in 2019 and beyond, but we need leaders to step forward this year and learn in order to make it next year happen. There are many volunteers each year. Tyler and Marijo Marcoux have assured me that YOU can do this. And, Tyler and Marijo will be helping with the event next year and available for guidance.
Please consider this, pray about this and respond directly to my email:
