"He said to them, 'Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.'"
(Luke 24:45-48)
Frequently, we experience a spiritual awakening during retreats or religious gatherings, leaving with hearts ablaze, eager to share the Gospel with the world. However, as time passes, our initial zeal diminishes, and gradually, our passion fades until we forget the fervor that once drove us. This often occurs because we overlook a crucial step: genuinely living out the Gospel in our lives. In today's Gospel passage, Jesus instructs the apostles to spread His teachings to all nations, but he clarifies that they must begin in Jerusalem.
This command is symbolic and applies to us as well. While we're called to share the divine message with everyone, we must start with ourselves, our families, and our immediate surroundings. Adopting this approach makes our mission more achievable. The Kingdom of God requires continual inner growth; only then can we authentically reflect it outwardly. We should consider ourselves as our personal Jerusalem; without fully embracing and living the Gospel, we'll face significant challenges in sharing it with others.
The authenticity of our faith is measured by how our actions align with the Word of God. This integrity forms the foundation for building a bold, genuine ministry of evangelization, spreading from our hearts to all nations.
Before sharing the Gospel, am I living it out in my own life?
Lord Jesus, grant me the strength to live out the Gospel each day courageously, so I may truly reflect Your love. Amen.
