A Celebration of Life funeral Mass for Charlotte Smith, who passed away on December 8, 2023, will be held this Saturday April 20 at 11 am. A reception will follow. All are welcome.

A brand new 7 week study on the Eucharist begins Tuesday, April 23rd. See below under "Faith Formation."

Holy Hour this Thursday has been moved from 5pm to 6pm.

A Few Do’s and Don’ts to Prevent Mass Confusion
A weekly series focusing on the Mass
How Much of the Mass Do I Have to Attend?
- Always strive to be on time for Mass, as a sign of respect for the Eucharist.
- However, neither canon law nor the Catechism defines any rule about how much of the Mass you must attend.
- If you are late to Mass or have to leave before the end of Mass—because of illness, caregiving duties, or some other serious reason—you have not failed in your Sunday obligation.
- Neither canon law nor the Catechism requires you to attend a specified part of the Mass to qualify for the Eucharist. As long as you meet the ordinary requirements (being a baptized Catholic, not conscious of any grave sin, etc.), you could conceivably walk into the church, join the communion line, receive Jesus, and walk out, if you had a serious reason for doing so.
- Pious guidelines (e.g., “You must be there before the first reading”), no matter how well intentioned, are not rules. Jesus had some pointed words to say about those who “bind up heavy burdens and lay them on others’ shoulders” (Matthew 23:4).

Everyone is welcome! The procession is a 1/2-mile route around the Holy Cross neighborhood. Those unable to walk the route are welcome to join the group praying in the Church.
First Communion children and their parents will have a special place at the beginning of the procession. The children are invited to come dressed in their First Communion outfits. Please let Ginna know if you will be joining the procession. We will have a designated pew in the church for the children and their parents.

Lyme Disease and Alpha Gal are one of the top ten diseases seen in the Lynchburg region. It is very specific to our area, in fact many physicians in the Roanoke region rarely see this. Come learn more about these tick born diseases, how to avoid them and what treatments are available.
Our guest speaker is Tiffany Covarrubias-Little, BSN RN PCCN. She is the Patient Education, Nurse Wellness Coordinator and Admissions, Discharge and Transfer (ADT) Manager at Centra.

The Diocesan Work Camp is a weeklong camp experience for high school youth to serve our brothers and sisters in need by making their homes safer, warmer, drier, and greener while also having the opportunity to grow in our Catholic faith.
Work Camp is not just a youth event. It is an opportunity for parishes to make a difference in the lives of those in need right here in our diocese while encouraging youth to answer their baptismal call to serve others. It is a transformative experience in the life of the adults who assist as well, whether as a volunteer, contractor, or chaperone.

for the Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center

The Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center is the result of a combined effort by Lynchburg-area Christians who were concerned by the lack of a "crisis center" that would provide a pro-life alternative to women with unplanned pregnancies. BRPC, as a non-profit ministry, is not affiliated with any congregation or denomination and relies upon the support of private donations and gifts, which are tax-deductible.
When? The weekends of April 27-28, May 4-5, May 11-12
Where? Place your donations in the collection Box in the Commons any of the three weekends. The Ladies of Charity will deliver your gifts to the Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center.

2021 Jesse Tree Ministry
Elves Delivered! This past week Jesse Tree gifts, food, and even stockings for the younger children, were distributed to 77 households in our area. Families came from our parish community, as well as those referred to us by Interfaith Outreach Association, Lynchburg Social Services, Miriam’s House and McGurk House.
Thanks: Many thanks to all those who made the 2021 Jesse Tree Ministry a success!
We will resume distributing the monthly bags in the Commons the first weekend in February.
